It's gonna be what like pick 14-17 with it sliding? Those are junk. Gets us a Laurie and a bowey or Tholstrup
Or Wilson and Reid. I wont be slitting my wrists if we did that deal but If we’re going to speculate on a guy in his mid 20s we might as well speculate on two 18 year olds.

Fair enough disagree, Humphrey is better than 90% of draftees taking in the last 3-4 years. The likelyhood of getting someone even as good as him after pick 10 is low

Tbh I’m more concerned about how much cash we’re willing to spend to get him.

I reckon Humphrey’s season is playing perfectly for us - he’s still stuck behind a bunch of elite, proven mids and his value is declining.

One of our first rounders instead of two might do it and I reckon he’ll blossom as a mid who can go forward rather than the reverse.

We're pretty flush with cash once we pay off all our contracts no? We could probably back end the shit out of his contract and still have coin to spare.

I guess, but that’s kinda how we got ourselves into this mess in the first place.

I see your point but we already had Oliver Track and Gus when we over paid, Oliver was never leaving until he was and Gus I thought we should have let walk for the cost

Humphreys younger, has the upside and doesn't present any off field risk. I get you'd rather spend the money on Butters but that level player ain't coming to us, we have to take a bit of a punt on upside

Would be an amazing outcome if it eventuated like that.

I think at best it's a first with a second attached somewhere or two of our first with some stuff coming back
Yeah reckon thats what it will end up being if it happens. Even a first this year and next with tassie draft wouldn't be horrendous.

Which I'm fine with us negotiating.

Something like our two 2026 first with GC's-Tasmania compromised 2027 first coming back seems like the best case scenario to me. A lot of water to go under the bridge though

huh? 13.7 touches and a goal a game. that's bog average. And whatever stat book you're looking at, chuck it in the bin.

Funny how he's above avg for clearances with 1 per game. What rubbish. He's had a bog avg season. Ppl just liking him coz he's strong and has tatts. Let's just stick to proven performers.
I just chucked my stat book in the bin.

I basically agree with Dan’s broader point even thought I rate Humphrey higher than he does. He still hasn't put it together as a midfielder yet which is what we want him to be. Trac is playing a similar role in the same side and is basically the best player in the comp. So there’s a speculative element to trading for him that there isn't with someone like a Butters. The Draft is that way too, obviously.

I wouldn’t be trading both our firsts straight up at this stage. Probably have to get creative to satisfy both us and Gold Coast.
Definitely a speculative element to the move, but that's where sKing's knowledge of him gives us more insight than most.

Looking forward to hearing about his athletic profile!

especially with 1 more year on his contract, we have no power. We'd have to overpay. Wait another year and get him for a late first.
You're missing the entire point that the market for him dictates the value. There will be just as many, if not more, clubs trying to get him next year.

If we don't land Humphrey we should be looking at trying to pry one of the young North or Richmond mids loose. A few who aren't getting proper midfield minutes but have huge upside. Getting best 22 players to switch between Victorian clubs is nearly impossible, but worth having a crack at.
