Just reading the article in the Herald Sun quoting Brendan Gale talking about Tasmania entering the comp. The stadium completion could get pushed back to 2031. There’s no way Nick is leaving behind 80,000 - 90,000 people most home games at the G to play at different stadiums in front of small crowds in Tassie.

Think butters is definitely going to the dogs. They look like they are about to get into window where they will be in serious premiership contention .

We should probably hit the draft hard again, just keep the reserves for when we are ready to compete again.

Yeah they tend to do that most years and then find a way to shit the bed

I can see Naicos being pissed he didnt win the Copeland last year. He clearly should have, despite an amazing year from Cameron.

So he has had 4 exceptionally good years for one best and fairest. There could be a world where he feels under appreciated within the club.

Having said this, unless someone offers us pick 1, 2 and 3 of a draft, he is going nowhere. It has to be one draft too, no future picks as we never know where they will play out.

I cant see it happening. But this fawning over Naicos really needs to stop. He is not even the best player in the comp. Bont clearly has him covered. It feels like the media are buying into this too much and making him better than he actually is (which imo, is clearly the second best player in the comp).

Maybe he wants to leave so he finally gets treated fairly and wins all the awards he should’ve already won multiple times over.

No one looks into the quality of your BnF finishes, they just reel off the total 😉

He should have at least 1x Brownlow, an extra 2x BnFs, a SoO medal and maybe even an extra AA jacket.
He should have 2 Brownlows. But is that what drives him. Pendles has spoken openly about not giving a **** about not winning a Brownlow and the individual awards he's won are nice but the 2 flags as a one club player are the only things that matter

Pendles has never really been too hard done by with any awards, certainly not to the extent Nick has.

I 100% expect Nick to explore options at the end of his contract. All teams would give him a blank cheque.

But him approaching a coach after 4 seasons after only failing to make a prelim once seems way too far fetched.

We’ve cleared the books so we can attract talent to support. Sounds like BS.
I doubt Nick would be happy to stop playing with his brother.

He has the capacity to be the greatest Collingwood to have ever played the game, and I suspect will be our next captain.

There is no way Nick will leave all this.

It’s all wishful thinking from non-Collingwood people. Just shows he is the most valuable commodity in footy.

We have won like 4 from our last 15 games and have absolutely no kids coming through.

It's not about the loss to Adelaide it's actually so much more.

I'm fine with rebuilding, let's commit to it now, stop hanging onto a list that's taken us as far as it can.
I think we commenced the process moving on Mihocek, Cox, WHE etc

Pies are in for some real pain coming up.

Absolutely no way King, Butters or Humphrey pick us based on what's available and the list.

When there's smoke there's fire with Nick.

Fly I'm not sure is the coach to take us through a rebuild.
Ablett went to GCS when they were a tram wreck - money talks!
Judd to Carlton - wasted his career.

From a rational perspective, the angst around Nick staying or going is purely wasted energy. He's contracted until the end of 2029, so it's not an immediate concern, but if he was to leave I would expect that the club would maximise the haul that is obtainable.

The desire for every Collingwood fan will be for him to be a 1 club player (which is understandable), but as Geelong learnt, the game itself isn't romantic in the slightest. Money talks, and the grass is usually greener for rare talents like him, whose self-belief is so great that they see the blue-sky of a project like the Gold Coast or Tasmania, and tend to ignore the realities of an expansion team.

If Nick decides to leave, so be it. It may just be the biggest gift he could give to our club, in an era where any competitive advantage is stripped away from clubs such as ours, all in the pursuit of expansion through 'equalisation'. Until the middle of 2028, it would be nice to enjoy the privileges and benefits of having a player like Nick on our list, even if the media and opposition supporters try their best to deny us those.

As old as our list is, having 2 of the top 5 best players in the league for the next 8 years pretty much guarantees (as much as you can these days) we are competing for top 4 for the foreseeable future.

It’s a lot easier to recruit role players/cover holes each year when your already have the stars locked in.

Looking at his full game highlights for the first 2 rounds, very confident we have a long term player in Roan Steel.

Has everything we are lacking as a team:
  • pace
  • endurance
  • good disposal
  • game smarts
  • goal sense

Just need to increase his numbers from 11-12 disposals to 18-20.

Shapes to be a quicker, cleaner Lipinski style player.
