You’re asking why I laughed after I just said why I laughed.

I think it’s comical Dimma is saying that when he’s only getting a game because two forwards ahead of him are injured. He sounds desperate with that language.

I think Jed has a high ceiling and I’d welcome him absolutely. I don’t actually mind what we do in a trade, but GC are laughing if they think he’s worth a first rounder currently…
He's "worth" a first round pick. If his draft was re-done, he'd still go in the first round - not as high as he did - I think in the teens. To me that's his worth. What he'd go for in trade is a guess though. And his value could change a heap in the second half of the year.

Jed is tracking like a young jey forward should, his numbers are better than Ben King at the same age and he's not even the main man. What isn't surprising is the amount of people posting who can't judge talent.
In what reality were Walter's first two seasons better than Ben King's? After two seasons King had kicked about 45% more goals than Walter despite:
  • Having his second season shortened by COVID
  • Debuting at a younger age
  • Playing in a much weaker side
  • Being the key forward from 18 years old & taking the opposition's best defender
  • Getting far worse inside-50 supply
Walter is developing as the third tall in a stronger team with a very good midfield delivering the ball to him. He has less responsibility and better support around him. He may well become a good key forward. But saying his first two seasons were better than King's doesn't stack up.

If we're talking talent evaluation, the numbers and circumstances favour King pretty comfortably

If we finished bottom 5 it could be 10-15
Not if Beau goes down there to Tassie, we could get their pick 7 or 9 if we're lucky. Not sure what he's worth or what they'll pay. Maybe someone can give a better idea on that.
If Beau doesn't take up their offer, who else would they target in our team besides Nick? Because Nick's staying put. I love the Tassie team but not at the expense of us losing Nick or Josh or Moore or Steene.

Just don’t want clear cut delist candidates retained on senior list because they have a year contracted on minimum chips.
Cut the cord
It's more complicated than that. My assumption is that the early extension to 4 years is a salary cap bet. If he becomes good you've saved a lot of salary cap over 2 years, if he doesn't you've lost a list spot for a year.

I think you've got to honour the bet, because you want the right players to take the bet. Just got to gamble more responsibly than GW did.

Whatever happens Jiath Ryan and HDM cannot be senior listed next season.
Rookies at best

Has Collingwood ever paid out a player for only performance reasons? I associate it with player non-compliance or rabble clubs. I hope we aren’t a rabble shitty club!!!!

This could be an unpopular opinion, but I'd frankly be quite comfortable losing Moore, if it can bring us some useful trade or draft collateral. I know he's our captain and occasionally plays a good game, but other than being a decent orator, I don't see the value he brings on field. (when he does manage to get on the field)

Won't ever happen. And if Frampton goes down what happens with no Moore?
Although, I would happily take a first rounder for him

Moore hasn’t been the same player he was in 22/23 for a while.
I feel like his focus on footy diminished once he started dating yoko.

His body hasn’t broken down yet, which is a surprise, but he’s a very long way off his best from years ago
We don’t want to replicate the Essendon off season where they recruited Gresham McKay Goldstein as free agents and X Duursma for cheap thinking they were contenders
Need to get the right players

I would be over the moon with Neale, Ballard and our first rounder. That would be some summer
Absolutely. Then draft our own version of Butters (for example) instead of paying through the nose for one. Something we just have to be better at. Plenty of guys drafted with picks 20 plus have gone on to be great players. We just haven't been good enough in finding them. Beams probably our last real late hit. Hopefully O'Bree can make a name for himself in this regard. A few promising selections so far

To Tassie he’s a FA so not 7 or 9. It’ll be a compensation pick dictated by the AFL. Steene’s ACL was his jumping leg so I would wait to see how he returns before we discuss his future.
