Pickett will be a late first so we won't be getting him. I like Drever and Teixeira the most.
Drever looks like he can play inside and out. Also listed as 188cm so could probably end up 190cm.
If we end up bottom 5, we'll get an end of first round pick. We could get him then

getting two picks would really benefit us with some elite talent.

What's with all this talk about us getting Lachie Neale next season?

I can certainly understand him possibly wanting to relocate to Perth if that's where his kids are, or maybe even Adelaide, but why on earth would he leave an ultra-successful Brisbane side to move to Victoria and specifically to us?

Is this just another (inevitably fruitless) case of Collingwood being linked to every player potentially on the market?

This may be obvious to many but our strategy will be to put the work in early with the free agents so we’ll know what we’re already getting and what we have left to spend when it comes to those we’ll have to trade for.

We will need to bring multiple best 22 quality players in at the end of the year and given there’s no really good young midfielders that are gettable (Wilson maybe is but Geelong bound) it makes perfect sense that we’d start put the work into Neale given he’d come for free.

Would save us capital, and leave us with some to use on bringing in forward cavalry which we’ll definitely need, and won’t come cheap.

Why are you acting like we are north or the bombers? we aren’t a basket case. And no reason with a couple of players back and additions next year (with an easier) draw we can’t contend again

Relax Stormy - that wasn't my point at all. I struggle to understand why he'd leave sunny, successful Brisbane if not to be much closer geographically to his kids. A move to a Melbourne club (us or otherwise) doesn't really achieve that.

Something would have to continue going seriously wrong on the injury front for us to finish bottom 5. Can see us finishing 9th or 10th and playing a final that supporters can't be arsed actually getting excited about.

Not sure why Neale going to a vic club would be such a head scratcher for Fages? He’s a free agent. He can go wherever he likes.

I think people forget, at the end of the day, he also should do what’s best for himself, and if that’s a lucrative longer term contract, at a club that is crying out for his services, and it still works with seeing his children then why not?

Reading between it sounds like Fagan is asking him are you moving for your kids or for yourself? He’s indirectly putting pressure on Neale to choose between only Perth and Adelaide.

The fact that he’s even commenting on it to this depth tells me he knows Neale could be a chance of leaving for us. Very interesting language used.
I remember no one including Fages knew why he wanted to go to Brisbane in the first place

I’m less certain. Who do you have locked away as wins now with Frampton and Maynard to miss v Port and Richmond? I think we’re on a knife’s edge of a 2021 type season if the stars align and would not be shocked if we finished bottom 5-6.

The geography of it is that yhe story goes that his parents have been ferrying the kids to him in Brissy. Their nearest airport is Mt Gambier with flights to Melb or Adelaide and nowhere else. Melbourne is a lot closer in terms of time than Brissy and the same as Adelaide.

Fagan is underratedly arrogant.

He's hard to listen to and harder to look at, little bloated old hobbit.

Imagine his conversations with the list manager:

Why can't we afford to keep our premiership stars: oh because we decided we had to have Oscar Allen and are paying him a million bucks a year.

Just looked at the fixture, you're right, we're cooked!

But I still reckon we have enough quality + system to deal with Port, Richmond, Carlton, West Coast and North, but it's also how much confidence you have in Port or North winning enough games themselves to jump us. As the season comes to a close, clubs entrenched in the bottom 5 might want to do what they can to stay there.

Not likely. Richmond perhaps

Yep Cleary surprisingly still has us amongst Geelong, Dogs and Tigers.

I don’t know what we’d be able to offer. I still think the Dogs though.
Other than Tigers, everyone else will have to trade someone out I think. Someone like Frejiah from the Dogs would have to be expendable.

Would only take GWS StK and Carlton to go past us
Not impossible if Maynard and Moore are out for season

I risk embarrassing myself with this question but is there a world where, if Butters genuinely preferred to come to Collingwood but we didn't want to/cannot give away our high picks, we trade a player like McCreery packaged with lower picks instead? Or multiple players including McCreery? I know it's diminishing returns after a point.

Don't lynch me, for I am just a lowly smart arse. Just curious to hear perspectives.

You wouldn't get him without giving up someone like beau. Depends how bad we want him. It'll cost a lot more than just beau though

How important is the execution on the right players? The strategy was bang on, but TDK and Flanders in particular were just not moving the dial. If Wilson leaves will it go down as a Ned Guy level cluster****? Otherwise known as Tuesday for Gubby?

FWIW the irony is the one that perhaps looked most sus given his body and the conflict of interest with his dad looks a ✅
Someone who actually understands the intent of the question and not just ranting for the sake of ranting

It'd have to be McCreery as well as other lower end prospect players, as well as multiple picks. But even then it probably doesn't satisfy them, and it's reckless on Collingwood's part anyway.

Whatever happens we're probably giving up more than we should be. I've just answered my own question which is typical.

I don't think he's worth that much. No player is. I'm starting to think we should go to the draft this year.
