Nice idea. I might call him schnooky. Or maybe schmoopie.

I did like that name from some reality show from years back, the bloke who called himself "The Situation".

Umm? More money?
Maybe you should be asking why your club is trying to re-sign him right now on bigger money, then try to figure out why he's refusing.
They were due to the threat of Tassie, but that seems to have died off. Why is he refusing? Likely because we aren’t offering a payrise, just an extension. He’s already our highest paid player, he knows that in order to be in a successful club you need to have money in the kitty to attract talent from elsewhere.
Geelong re-signed Bailey Smith recently on bigger money even though he was already signed long term.

This is the nature of the industry.
Bailey Smith was woefully underpaid for his level of talent. Nick is not.

Umm, Collingwood is offering Daicos roughly $2m a year for 9 years. It's highly unlikely he would get an offer much bigger than that.
The only scenario where that's "less money" now would be if he was considering Tasmania for the huge sign-on bonus.

And even if your conjecture was correct, that there's less money being offered now, so what? Contracts can be re-negotiated at any time. I raise the Bailey Smith example again; signed long-term upon but still got a payrise a year later.
Calling bullshit, that hasn’t been reported anywhere I’ve seen.

Last time I checked he was having a statistically better season than his last Brownlow year.
And Wells was a perfectly legitimate gamble too. Probably would have won us the 2018 flag if not for an unfortunate traumatic injury. Just because a gamble doesn’t come off, doesn’t mean it was the wrong move.

Wouldn't you rather almost acquire Merrett?
I laugh at those who question offering a 33yo Neale three years, but don’t bat an eyelid at offering a 31yo-to-be in Merrett the same to come to the Hawks in addition to having to cough up a reported 1st and 2nd round pick while Neale only costs cap.

And he's worse than Neale to begin with!

I thought Bailey Smith took a paycut just so he could get to Geelong. Seems that has now been rectified.

I try very hard not to be.
Many will throw it out there just because they don’t like negativity however it’s not my intention to just be all doom and gloom for the sake or it —and many are passing it off as such but I do not enjoy it
I have been around here a long time and this is the first time I have genuinely believed we haven’t got a good handle on the wheel
At least we know what you have your handle on

Honestly don't want to invest the reported money in King.
Rather put big money into mids - this year or next.
If Butters truly is out of reach, as has long seemed likely, then Neale, Ballard, a second-tier fwd like Gruzewski & a mid in this year's draft?
Then continue chasing another top mid like Rowell for next year.

Gruzewski is just another bit below par tallish forward to add to our collection of them. Pass on him.
