Plans change though - from his perspective I'm sure it was just as unnerving to wait for his name as if we hadn't suggested we were keen lol. I'd both love and hate to be in that situation.
May have also hinged on how many clubs had made enquiries over the journey.
Don't think clubs draft without prior communication these days.

3 Kane Lucas's slip through and we don't draft him. Plenty of players have been told they would be drafted.
Just a bit of tongue in cheek guys. Plus I'm milking the only bit of decent intel I've ever had...

Of course I know it wasn't guaranteed, or a sure thing... And that's fairly obvious from the elation of the young fella and his family...

Even when you're pretty sure, almost certain, there's still that doubt, followed by relief and joy when it happens. I've been in that exact position...

My number was next at the Coles deli counter, but there was a long nervous wait until they called out "number 053???..."

A small pressure forward who can also run through the midfield, Polson hails from Haileybury College in Keysborough, Victoria.

The 18-year-old also played four games with the Sandringham Dragons, before a shoulder injury unfortunately cut his season short.

In those matches for the Dragons he mostly played on the wing, highlighting his versatility across the ground.

Carlton’s General Manager of List Management and Strategy Stephen Silvagni says Polson is a very valuable selection so deep in the draft.

“Cam possesses great speed and has real power,” Silvagni said.

“He’s also a great tackler and has neat skills, so we’re excited to see just how far he can develop.”

Welcome, Cam!

STATS:
DOB: 11.3.1998
Position: Mid/forward
Height: 177cm
Weight: 77kg
Yeah, but can he run through the... oh, sorry, you've already mentioned that.

Great intelligence.

I really liked the link to your original post on the Rumours thread (bloody hard to track down among all the "rumour" posts. That is until I read the quote Cam liked:

Motto for 2013
I’ve missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed. –Michael Jordan

If Cam misses more than 9000 shots on goal and loses 300 games he is going to bring frustration levels to a new high, no matter how much he "succeeds".

On a more serious note I observe that the motto appears in the Sandy Dragons link as being for 2013. Presumably his listed height then (177 cm) was his height in 2013. http://www.sandringhamdragons.com.au/www/content/default.aspx?cid=749&result=profile&client=11127
If so he has had plenty of opportunity to grow to 184 cm (though he might not have availed himself, of course). And he did look quite big on the tear-jerker family clip.

Anyway, from knowing nothing about CP to reading this thread I am very, very happy to welcome CP to the Blues, perhaps almost as much as he and his family seem to be in his coming here.

Oh what a Draft, and it is not even windy.

For those who want some more highlights from Cam's year at Haileybury/Sandy - he reminds me of Nathan Hrovat in a lot of ways.

Has leadership, lightnight speed and agility, excellent reader of the ball, good goal-sense and finishing, is a terrier when tackling... what's not to like?!

Very early, but I'm claiming him as #MyBoy If he can get his body right for preseason, he could surprise a few and give Wright, Sumner and co a run for their money in 2017.

Those highlights were mad!
Lightning off the mark, kicks well at full pace, evasive and creative by hand, likes the goals and looked like he just wanted to run and run! Actually it really looks like he's "running rings around them!"...lol

I remember reading your post about this guy a few months ago and brushing it off as some BS some guy has given you. Nice mail, he looks a likely type.

That video of his reaction to being recruited isn't playing on my computer for some reason, wish I could see it.
