2nd youngest list in the comp . .

I noticed a member on the main footy board (can't remember who) mention that the bombers have the 2nd youngest list the competition. Can anyone confirm this for me? If it is accurate it pretty cool. Sheeds has been rebuilding since 2001 pretty much, with the departures of bewick, long, heffernan, caracella, blumfield, hardwick, moorcroft, wallis, barnes, salmon and few others, all of which have been developed players, and have allowed the younger talent to prove themselves. Hopefully this will continue at the season's end with barnard and Ses leaving.

22.3 years of age...equal with freo an collingwood. With the young talent at bendigo its an exciting time for the bombers thats for sure. When guys like lay**** and winderlich, walsh and the like come through those who critised sheeds and his decisions on the list will eat their words.

According to an article by Robert Shaw which I read in the HS we are a team which has more younger players with less game time than St Kilda. It was an interesting article to say the least! Also interesting that the general football media chose to ignore it.

St Kilda have an exciting list but I beleive our team has the right mix of experience and youthful energy that they lack. This really does bode well for the next few years if things go our way.

Yeah when we played st kilda we were 63 games lighter and still flogged them, this is why sheeds is so good he rebuilds but keeps it quiet makes sure we dont hit rock bottom like other clubs (carlton) before he lets players go and spots good ones like mcphee or cupido for mid 20's players

Thats Pretty good news.

We are a pretty good team at the moment and considering we have a young team in a few years I think we will be right up there at the top. A bright future for the bombers is ahead.

im quitely confident we are gonna have a very good team in a couple seasons time. We have a very young list, and the beauty is the "old" guys arnt having a huge influence - Alessio, Mercuri, Misiti, Barnard while Hird is in and out.

Very healthy list this one, with a fair bit of improvement yet of a number of youngsters.

We are a young team no doubt about it...definantly top 5 younger teams, this is what the journos forget when they say we dont play young kids...idiots!

At a guess 5-
Hille, Cupido, McPhee, Welsh, Bullen.

Let's not get too carried away... great having a young list and yes great finally having some ruck choices going forward with Hille now a genuinely consistent player, but...

1. We massively rely on Hird - he gets injured (ie: he rarely plays poorly) we are at least a 20% worse team.
2. We massively rely on Lloyd, Lucas, Wellman and Fletcher... none of whom is particularly old but on the wrong side of 25.
3. We lack a pace + experience. Mercs and Misiti have not got long to go (its 10 years since 93), pev is slow as is Rioli ... Only really Rama fits the bill here. However, at least we're got options coming on stream...

Frankly, with the ruck fixed, we are still a shot to 'steal' a flag in the next two years before the champs get too old - ie: if you've got Fletcher, Wellman, Solomon, MJ, Jacobs and maybe Bolton down back - Lloyd, Lucas, Hird up front - Rama, JJ and McPhee in the middle - you just need to find 5 really decent quick, skilled kids from the large promising number at the club and anything could happen...

But, after 2 years, the next generation has got to step up.

Come on. We may draft 'pre made' duds.

We don't get to pick the best kids in the draft year after year (like you guys do) and then turn then into **** with our ordinary 'culture'.
