1. Michael Hurley - a lovely third game and showed so much poise.

2. We matched one of the best teams in the competition for one half and arguably should of been further in front - but it was not to be.

3. We couldn't possibly get such a **** run with the... I'm so sick of saying their name so I will call them "the people officiating the game" ever again.

Hurley was excellent but there were more positives than that.

Dempsey started to take the game on. Been wishing he'd run and carry the ball a bit more and there were a couple of instances where he did that as well as being generally consistent and clean all night.

The second quarter was as good as we've played for about 5 years I thought. Against quality opposition, we tore them up on the rebound setting up strong attack from a young defence.

Ryder continued to be a handful around the ground. I thought he'd struggle against the size and experience of Hudson.

We were convincing in the first half with the likes of Lloyd, Lucas, McVeigh, Watson, and to a lesser extent Fletcher, Welsh, and Mcphee having very little influence on the game. Maybe this is a of where we should be focussing moving forward. Definately time to go Lucas.

1- Hurley. He is a ****ing gun, and will dominate FB for years to come. Even if it was only against Scott Welsh, he did an awesome job. Love his goal too.

2- Dempsey, he finally was taking the game on again. ****ing gun.

3- We matched it with one of the best sides in the AFL for 3 quarters. that is ****ing awesome

I think a couple of you have also forgotten to mention Davey.. he was brilliant last night!

Back to Hurly though..wow.. going to be an absolutely brilliant player for the next 5-10 years!

We matched it with the Bulldogs when we had Watson in the middle, as soon as he moved the Bulldogs dominated clearances and ball gets from stoppages :(

I reckon we saw the best and worst of Davey last night.

He squibbed it for a quarter and a half, he was soft, he fumbled and he pulled out of contests.

Then he got smashed in the second quarter and it looked to have woken him up. He ran harder, but his head over it and was a lot cleaner.

Hurley was great, that was by far the greatest positive.

People have to remember that even after the loss, we are still in prime position for the 8. We were never expected to win last night

Just from an opposition supporters point of view, I watched him fairly closely in the last quarter when he was at full forward and I was impressed. He was lined up on Morris which is a challenge for all backmen and at times he was able to burn him off, for such a big lad he can motor and Morris's main asset is probably his acceleration and speed. He did a fairly good job on Welsh in the first half as well. Looks like you've got a very versitile young kid down there.

Absolutely spot on. This has been lost in the wash of poor umpiring and being outplayed in the 2nd half. In terms of intensity and pressure, the first 20 mins of the 2nd quarter was simply outstanding.

It was played at a finals intensity and really showed that we are not too far off September football.

Our tackling was outstanding in a quarter in which both sides had 30 tackles EACH. We kept the Doggies goalless for much of the quarter and just went hard at the man in a fair manner.

I thought Hocking's first half was simply superb. He was the only player who was winning contested ball on a regular basis and did it very well. He has certainly come on leaps and bounds this season and I think will be in our leadership group in the next 2 years.

Hurley was brilliant. As one of the Doggies supporters has mentioned, it's no mean feat to beat Dale Morris on the lead twice in a matter of minutes. His defensive game was also terrific. I've never been happier with a first round pick after only 3 games.

1. Michael Hurley - exciting to watch.:thumbsu:
2. Tayte Pears - continues to improve and he's also only 19.:thumbsu::thumbsu:
3. That those three umpires will never officate a game together again. Didn't realise you could give away a 50m penalty for your demeanor!!! Seriously they must be joking. I've seen more attitude and demonstrative behaviour in a junior netball game than Fletcher showed last last night!!!:thumbsd::thumbsd::thumbsd:

1. Defensively we have improved a huge amount. Keeping the Bulldogs to 4 goals by half time was a fantastic effort in one of the most intense first half's of the year.
2. We are still in the top eight with a reasonable percentage.
3. Bendigo played their best match of the year and we have half a dozen players pushing for senior selection.

as an aside, just imagine how arrogant Carlton supporters on these boards would have been if we'd picked Yarran and Carlton had scored Hurley!!

I am currently slaughtering all kinds of small animals to give thanks to the football gods
Dear lord, I can imagine it now.

Yarran looks less convincing than Tambling did for 4 years; Hurley looks like like he's been holding down Key posts for 100 games.

Yet despite us snapping up this gun, Carlton still chose Yarran over one Daniel Rich. It just keeps getting better. :D
