Can someone tell me, if an AFL player tests positive to recreational drugs for a 3rd time, what is the penalty?

I really can't see how you can suspend somebody for a third offence. If it is ok the first two times, why is it in any worse the third time.

yeah there is an interesting rumour floating around at the moment...

On the third strike the player is named publicly by the AFL. THey are then required to face the AFL Tribunural where they can face a sanction of "up to" 12 weeks.

On a fourth strike the player is named again and will face the tribuneral with a "minumum" sanction of 6 weeks.

That is the penalties for "out of competition" strikes. If a player tests positive on "game day" for any banned substances it is an automatic 2 year sanction.
