Not his speed off the line though. Goodes could tow your mate's old van faster than it would have gone under its own steam (and I mean steam, those things were awful old bombs). I had a 1964 Triumph Herald once. Turning circle was so tight it risked disappearing up its own exhaust pipe but, like the Bedford, it could't pull the skin off a rice custard.

I watched the replay last night.

Only 18 points down with 2min30 on the clock in the second.
Add to that our incompetence at kicking for goal in the first Q where we should have had 4 goals before they scored their 4th..............with our error riddled display.

Believe it or not, we were not all that far off them.

I now also know what you guys mean with Stevic, the Hawthorn sponsored umpire.

The 89 point margin is actually irrelevant because we were shot after we lost Bird & the Tippo being rendered useless.

Clubs are too afraid to do that these days, but bloody oath someone should, everytime he umpires Hawthorn they get a leg up

Believe it or not, we were not all that far off them.

Yeah, we're not as far off them as the margin suggested, had we taken those early chances and not had Bird and Tippett injured early I'm sure the game would have been a lot closer. Every game we've won against them in recent years we've nailed early goals, every bad loss... we've missed sitters.

Having said that, realistically Hawks are still going to beat us 7 or 8 times out of 10. That's the kind of gap they have on us at the moment so if things don't improve dramatically for us then we don't have much hope of a flag this year.

I still have faith we can improve, just not much faith that we can improve to the point where I'll have anything resembling confidence going into a match against the Hawks.

He was real bad.
There was an OOTF free kick to Parker I think in the first.
He calls play on so early it's not funny.
Parker is rushed into a dodgy kick.

The first shot on goal for Buddy where two Hawk f . . ks were just 1.5 metres away from him lining up for goal.
Then the prick calls touched when in any other game, against any other team, by any other player lining up for goal for any other team & with any other umpire, that would have been called a 50 metre penalty & a clear goal & failing that, would NEVER have EVER been called touched.

Back in the game!

We were burnt by mid way through the third with our spirit broken, not due to the Hawks, but by our own issues in having an unfit ruckman in Tippett struggling to battle on & with Bird going off. They were always going to run away with the game. Hence why I say the margin made the Hawks out to be better than they were.
Like I said before.

I'm extremely confident that we will get up this weekend. This ground will suit Buddy & should Heeney play, they'll kick 8-10 goals between them!
