Player Watch #30: Reece Conca

Conca is well suited to playing that contested ball, support mid role. He's not a star. But given continuity is a good player. At worst we have a good depth in him. At best he improves our AFL side. Right now we suck at contested ball, and he one of those that can help there.

I suspect that he sits behind Prestia. If Prestia comes in this week (good game for him against the Bears to ease in) I can see Reece staying into ensure we have that depth in that role. As Prestia gets fit and in form I wonder whether Reece can step it up and push someone else out.

Seriously guys he's not best 22 as Broad Prestia and Caddy need to come back in. He'll be the next out after Lloyd
Not if he keeps playing and improving like he did last week. You may not have rated it but Dimma and mentioned him specifically. Personally some of our older mids like Grigg who hasn't done much this season will be looking over their shoulder. There are always injuries, and we are thin for inside mids.
But if his form drops, you may be right. It will be interesting this week at selection, the VFL has a bye, so what to do with Prestia.

You missed my point as he's still the second worst performer in the squad on average. Grigg's comes out????? I'm not a Grigg fan,but he has points in the bank especially in comparison to Conca. Don't listen to the coaches and players talking blokes up as look what happened to Corey Ellis.

Townsend, Lloyd, Higgo/Lambert

theres 3 outs right there
Higgo??He's replacing Rioli and there's no way Reece will replace him as he doesn't have the skills or the smarts to play this role?
Townsend?? Definitely not his role and would make us smaller and physically weaker.
Lloyd and Lambert are replaced by the other three INS . So Reece still plays VFL.

I'd happily swap grigg for menadue

Caddy replaces Townsend
Prestia replaces Lloyd
Lambert out, conca into midfield, broad goes to defence

As much as i like this to happen I still believe Menadue's tank is a year away from him being a regular.
Markov has come on slower than I thought and he really should be pushing guys like Grigg Short BEllis and to a less extent Lambert.

Still makes us one mobile tall down on our Premiership side. Lambert will not go out as he still out performs Conca in hard gut running.

At the moment...
But Conca's last game ran rings around Lambert for involvement...

For those who are knocking Conca as not best 22, whilst I agree he still has a lot more to do to get to a 'certainly in' level, please don't forget he was at that level, close to our top ten in the first 5 games last year before his foot injury...

And all this "runs on the board...Points in the bank" type arguments may hold sway for a game or three, but that is it, we can't carry anyone longer than that when people are trying to break into the side, it does more damage than good. If Grigg (because he was recently mentioned) or anyone has 3 stinkers on the trott, premiership or not, back to the twos you go IMO.

People need to realise form goes up and down on a regular basis, and as blokes get older like Grigg and Houli who are good players but not elite, they will naturally decline and at some stage that needs to be recognised and they need to be replaced by younger players coming through with the ability to improve. For the record, I don't think either of those players at at this point yet, but I also realise they are our older statesman and it may come a lot quicker than anyone wants.

There was a 4 possession difference between the two. In terms of pressure acts Lambo is ranked 4th on our list to Conca 13th . Last game Conca applied 13 acts whilst Lambo 15. So I can't see your point here bc if you're applying pressure it would appear you're getting involved.
I'd like to know the km run by both .

Who would you have playing for you in the last half against the Dawks...Lambert or Conca...?!/

Who would you have playing for you in the last quarter against the Dawks...Lambert or Conca...?!/
It's the overall package, so Conca plays his breakout quarter and suddenly he replaces a gut running premiership player? I think you're simplifying things if we are looking at one quarter only.
I could ask you who would you have wanted playing the first half Conca or Lambert?

No...I asked you first...

No...I asked you first...
It's a poor question as player A could make 5 clangers in the first 3 quarters and cost us 5 goals ,yet set up 3 goals in the last with zero clangers.
then player B could do the contrary.

It was a POOR question as it didn't look at both player's entire game. They both overall on the day had similar games and you're clutching at straws if you think Conca had more involvement as the stats indicate my point.

Pretty simple for me...I would have Conca's whole game over Lambert's...that how poor i reckon lambert has been travelling...
Apart from racking up flybys with the kilometers he's ticking over...
