Can you please start a thread on this? I don't recall anyone discussing this subject and I would like to know what everyone's thoughts are.

What would be nice is if people put up posts about his strengths and weaknesses and actually back those comments up with some facts.

Point i would make and i am still gobsmacked is Reece was out of contract last yr went to off season and no one wanted him yet we give him a two yr contract.You have to ask yourself what the hell is going on.

Imo people were not prepared to trade for a good ordinary player.If he had been delisted he may have been picked up as a delisted f/a yet again he may not have.

Personally i think him just a foot soldier who i would keep in front of others because he will at least not shirk contests and will have a real go.But is that really a good enough reason to not just delist him while he was out of contract.

Anyway anyone want to talk up his strengths or down his weaknesses.

Reece is not a prolific midfielder, his best games are in 2012 and 2013

Heppell has been on drugs whereas Reece has been on Lasagne.

More interesting would be Conca vs Caddy.

I was a fan. Liked his attack at the footy and the man. Was the only player we had who did the one %ers around the packs. Good lateral movement through packs and very evasive. I have never been a great Heppell fan and remember plenty on this board backing Reece, although probably not the majority. People do forget that at the time Heppell was playing well it was whilst on Essendon's drug regime. Did that make him a better player, possibly, certainly worked for Watson. Conca occasionally turned it over, but was only 21 the last time he played footy pre injury. So until he has some footy continuity, I can't see how you can call him below average foot soldier (delistable). Why bag players out when they haven't played for about 3 seasons.

All the Reecey baggers conveniently forget about heppell and Jabe's shenanigans with drug cheating...
And their enhanced playing performances for several seasons.
If Jab won a Brownlow whilst taking drugs...then heppell was certainly playing well above the averages as well...cheating...
I think i'll wait to see how reecey figures stack up against heppell's this season before bagging out the recruiters...

Positives: high tackle numbers, speed, can find the ball

Negatives: injury prone, disposal, can panic under pressure.

I think he can be handy as a midfielder but don't think half back is his go

Exactly and Reece's career figures which were upward trending pre injury have now also been affected negatively by the fact that he has managed 9 games in the last two seasons. It's hard to expect him to get any form continuity in that time.
When fit and uninjured Reece can play. Won't ever be our best, but is when firing is for mine definitely best 22 and a good player. The kid just needs some luck and to keep working hard.

FWIW I would have preferred Heppell at the time, but as everyone has already rehashed to death, there were rumours of draft manipulation with his father and Essendon claiming over exaggerated injuries that saw him slide to them who were his preferred choice. We got spooked as did others. Move on people.
