Congrats Tom. Reward for displaying just the sort of attitude we need. Determined attack on the ball no matter how hard the contest or highly rated the opposition. Add to that great leadership displayed in the VFL over a couple of seasons.

Reckon this is a good pickup. Should fill out that bit of our age profile with someone who's hard at it and has a strong will.

Gives the team a bit more backbone.

I think he has earned his spot for sure. But I also like this partly because it continues the narrative that the cats will reward vfl performers, and as such our vfl side continues to attract the guys that back themselves to earn a spot. The more the standards lift in the 2s the better the flow on for our developing players.

I'm sure he is a great guy. He is ferocious and tough but not sure why he got on the list in the position he plays and at his age.

I mean we have a stacked midfield not including Parfitt, Constable, Fogerty, Guthrie, Simpson, Narkle, Cunico, Parsons, Menegola, Scooter, Cocky, Brownless and Kennerly who are all midfielders mostly playing out of position as it is.

Totally agree, also attracts players to the vfl system

You would expect he will play forward in AFL side. Forward tackling pressure and he can kick a goal. Query will be pace in AFL.

If Castanga can play a role for best side in comp, I am happy to give him a shot.

Two times B&F in our VFL team, I don't think he'll surprise that many. He's a good player and deserves his chance.

I am too Foxdog. Remember watching him in the last VFL Final + was impressed by his passion + determination, when he gave such impassioned directions to the team. Was just waiting for him to say Rooke-esque "Come on Boyz!".

This x 1000. You have to give reward to those that put in the work and earn the chance. A rookie pick is a junk pick after the ND we had ( in terms of number of picks taken prior) - so its a free hit really for a year. But it gives the Byrnes, Stokes, Henry, Stewart, Blicavs, Ruggles, Zuthrie fringe types hope to keep going and that is worth its weight in gold.
