I think his athletic testing was poor in terms of speed and agility. Good endurance though. It may have contributed along with ordinary form during the year.

Josh Kennedy (Carlton then WC version) had very poor off the mark speed testing when we drafted him. His endurance allowed him to repeat lead and eventually create space. Seemed to have a decent career…

How do we feel Big Lem is developing?

He's into his second pre-season and I'm hoping he starts dominating the VFL next season.
The match simulation looked like he was already gassed, so I hope that's reflective of him doing a lot of running, rather than his fitness base being shocking.

I think the big question mark on him has been his drive.
Hopefully he was just going through a lull etc.

His tank and work ethic are reportedly pretty good. Main issue is competiveness. Not so much around running volume but more around his level of intensity in attacking contests.

Needs to keep putting on muscle and throw his weight around more. Right now he doesn't have much physical presence and plays alot smaller then his height.

Peter Wright is the player he most reminds me of and he struggled with the same thing early on (though was a better prospect then Lemmey)

Hopefully he can get there as he would be great depth cover for Harry and Charlie. Should get the chance to be the main man in the VFL this year.

Any chance this bloke gets a game next year, or is he looking like a missed pick?
I mean he's sitting behind two Coleman medallists and isn't capable as a 3rd forward. He's a backup, as would any other forward would be if we draft them any time in the next 3-5 years.

He needs to build out his tank or he's probably going at the end of the year.

Charlie and Harry were both out for the last two games and Voss put Kemp at FF.

If he can’t get a game then, when will he?

I was advocating for him to front up to the West Coast game, and let's not forget TDK was also missing.

I think that was a bad call by Voss and co, because he was in good enough form to drop in at FF and work the contest. Just ground down Kemp instead.

I hope the club give a 2 year extension soon seems to progressing well and talls are hard to find and develop takes time.

He would really have to go backwards i believe to not be given another contract, if he has a steady year of progression he’ll get another year…

If he has an outstanding year, which he manages to show another level of maturity & consistency in his development, improvement with his physical contests and competitiveness, odds on for another two years…

Way too early for that call, that's a typical Carlton delulu call that gives us with limited flexibility without any cause shown yet.

See: second half of the Ratten era, and the reason why we are currently having a mini-rebuild.

esoteric is the official player buddy for Harry Lemmey. Everybody else can still update the thread. esoteric will be the one making sure it stays current.

The good news for Lem is that he was one of approximately 25 players in the squad for the hitout against St. Kilda on the weekend. He played a little over half the game, attended a couple of centre bounces, and played mainly as a deep forward. He really wasn’t able to have much influence and got very little of the ball. Hopefully the little taste can spur him on to greater opportunity.

Just doesn't look like he's up to it unfortunately. Lacks presence and is easily pushed off the ball

As soon as he feels like he belongs, you will see a different Harry Lemmey. An aggressive, I can change this game type attitude. Needs muscle and time.

If he wants an AFL career he needs to start doing this soon!
