That seems to be a common theme for both of our picks this year - depending on who you ask they're either slow, or lightning

Lyons is so fast he switches the light off at night, and is in bed before it goes out.

Talking about "just what we need" - I'm starting to respect those 8-10 scouts we have more and more.

Look at what is written, said and recorded about Brodie and Jarryd. Then, on the basis of what is "written, said and recorded " ONLY try to decide which one to go for.

There does not seem to be any significant difference, yet all the pundits had Brodie top 20, and Jarryd down in the 50 -70s. Remember, 1600 nominated for the draft - less than 80 new players were picked.

Or is it just like fashions? Do the scouts follow the fashionatas?

Thunderstruck - do you have a link to your phantom? I couldn't find it before. I'd be fascinated to see what you wrote about Lyons, because almost nobody has written a thing about him. Absolutely nobody linked him with us. I'd be really fascinated to hear an interview with him, which I'm sure will occur soon.

Lyons is one of the steals of the draft.

He is not lightning quick but he finds space and is very clean with his hands.

He can kick goals, good lateral movement, is a lovely kick and can also mark very well for a player of his height.

We have done extremely well here

I was hoping for Sipposs of Lyons and we got Lyons.

He will play for the AFC within 18 months - rest assured.

This is a big win for the AFC

I'd never even heard of this guy before Rendell read his name out, but it seems a few posters here were quite hot on him. I'd love it if somebody could post some footage of him.

No, but his father Marty played 27 games for the Melbourne Demons between 1975 -1977, including winning their Best First Year Player in 1975. So the lad has a "pedigree".......

Oh Rendell...

Never heard of the bloke but he looks fantastic. I thought I saw a bit of frustration at the Adelaide table when Browne was taken just before us but it seems we've done well. Hopefuly he's there Thursday, can't wait to have a look.

Like the look of him from his highlights.

If he turns out to be as good as some of the more informed posters are saying then Rendell will have done well at this draft.

As Rendell himself said, you have to throw in Jacobs and Tambling along with Smith and Lyons to appreciate just how well we have done at the draft.

I think we naturally fall in love with every kid we draft ( I remember loving Jackys highlights) but when I saw Robbie Gray first play I thought this kid is going to be a star. I just got the same feeling. How did he slip?

well said... im sure most of these kids have punk-like qualities... i know marc murphy (or used to) and whilst he was a generally good kid, he was still a typical 18 year old. he has a good head on his shoulders now.
