Although you can push them down in the same way you can tamp the tobacco in a pipe? Maybe?

Straws... clutching?
The straws you use to clean your pipe?

I was actually taken by the notion of view tampering. I’d love a way to inject some optimism or positivity into some of the ideas expressed on here. Just once in a while.

Surely has plenty of upside.

But anyone hoping he’s close to an AFL debut …. he isn’t.

Had a bit of a stinker in the VFL today. Has a LOT to learn.
Always going to be a project player. Wasn't convinced by the match early, but he needs to be given time before judging.

Hopes by some that he'd debut early were just wishful thinking.

Dubai, I didn't see today's game, seems like he had a bit of the ball. Can you explain how he had a "stinker"? Genuinely interested in what he did wrong today and if you feel he is a good chance long term.

He got a bit of the ball, but it tended to be fairly cheap possessions across half back.

His ball use wasn’t great, but it was more the defensive side of things - he got out-positioned quite a bit.

I certainly wouldn’t draw any conclusions yet! The recruiters clearly saw lots of positive attributes. It’s just apparent that he’s still learning the game & gets outdone by seasoned footballers at this stage.

There’s not a player on our list I want to start seeing in the VFL coaches votes more than this bloke.
He's on his way. He's gotten better with every week I think, save for the most recent game on the weekend, which I think very few were at their best in.

Clearly he's more of a slow-burn than we were sold and I think if he didn't come with all this "he's senior ready, he'll play round one, he's basically Finn Callaghan" hype when we drafted him, I think we'd all be pretty happy with his year so far.

I think there were a lot of good judges ITK who felt he had a lot to learn about the game but that he had a lot of traits that would lead to him becoming a good player, probably next year.
The hype came from outside the club IIRC.

I’m just a bit sick of our 1st round picks being slow burns.

Tbf he wasn't meant to go that high iirc
Definitely not. My suspicion is that we expected to match on Carmichael first about when he was called and then Kyle later. We were always going to match King but him going so late and having passed on Carmichael gave us Philippou and Cootee. TBH I think we will look back at that draft pretty kindly. Carmichael didn't really fit where Cox wanted to go so passing on him IMO was a good call. The others all have significant upside if they come good. Cootee already shows as good depth at worst in his first season. Chamberlain looks tidy, Hetherton and King looked OK before injury, Philippou is improving and Kyle is learning while still showing his traits. Not bad at all, especially considering none of them were top bracket.

I attended the Swans season preview at the M.C.G in February this year.

I'm not sure if anyone has previously mentioned it, but during his speech, Leon Cameron interestingly said that the club expected Harry Kyle to play up to 6 senior games this year.

That comment alone made it feel worthwhile, even exciting to have attended the function.

Yeah I'm not really sure where the hype came from. I think a bit of it was internal, from players etc., a lot of it external, from the media and pundits. And then just general pre-season hope & optimism I guess. Not Kyle's fault though.
