Exactly right. Were those players listed ever going to take the next step? No, they were just serviceable players that were playing solid football at a time when we were top of the tree. These types of players fall down the pecking order at every club.

There was an article by Peter Ryan about Cloke which I think makes a reasonable case, but which I think comes too late. Cloke has run out of time to prove himself and really it's an own goal because his efforts last week were absolutely insipid and a big petulant thumb. Article's been taken down for some reason.

He's known since April where he stood and we'd be naive to think his management hasn't been working behind the scenes.

Don't sugar coat it, he was absolutely putrid at the contest. He has been sulking all year and after being given reprieves has not changed his tune.

Other than a couple of tackling efforts that poor he really wasn't that bad. Competed in the air for up the ground and took marks also kicked a great goal.

The goal was good, naturally because there was no pressure of him landing it, but he wasn't clunking hard contested marks and his defensive efforts were utter bullshit! And it's worth reflecting on this. The guy has been dropped for precisely those reasons but petulantly refuses to exert himself. It's not hard to chase and harass but he evidently thinks he's above it all. And that's why I've had it up to pussy's bow with the guy.

Ah yes. The poor "kick it to Cloke all the time" game plan. And it's totally Buckley's fault that a 29 year old, supposed leader with 10 years experience isn't motivated. Not to mention the dreaded "backwards" that is always career kryptonite. You would almost think Buckley has a vendetta against him.
