Subject: Cloke extension

Have heard from a source in the club that Damir Cloke is still talking with the club for a 2 year extension for Trav - hearing 1 year after 2017 with triggers for a 2nd year. Can't confirm how far they are progressed, but I can confirm Trav does want to stay at the Pies. Want to extract maximum $$$ from the club, but the club only want him as insurance for Darcy until we land the big fish from the "sunshine state" at the end of 2017.

Bit of an update from EBnW.
Please tell me he is as accurate as the scout

We really need to get a first round pick this year. We need to be conscious of the requirement of pickin 2 first rounders every 4 years.

I would keep Cloke this year, trade williams and witts for 2nd rounders and look to package those picks for a first rounder, even if it is late.

That way we can throw future first round picks at a big fish at the end of 2017 and make another treloar type trade. We will have some money in the bank with cloke going down a pay scale and swan retirement.

Perhaps a quieter trade period this year is the way to go.

Dollars are one thing, but getting a trade done for a contracted player is another. I'd assume we'll try and threaten losing him as a free agency in 12 months time.

Once you convince the player to leave and join your team, more often then not (90% of the time) they get their wish and a trade happens.

If this info is true you would imagine Hine and co already have a plan and what they are willing to give up for him.

Would be 2 first rounders + something else.. The guy is an absolute freak. If this guy is telling porkies I'm gonna hunt him down because my hopes are up now.

What makes you think it's lynch and not wright, or are you just being hopefull?

I thought the bit about the " big fish " being a RFA at the end of 18 was the give away.

But even if you went off big fish then Lynch fits that over Wright who although shows promise is not yet in that big signing category. See below.

Who ever said that we were waiting for him to come out of contract? GC get more value from a trade in 2017 than free agency compensation in 2018...

Not sure what we will offer.

You would expect a first rounder plus something at a minimum, keep in mind they could lose him only a first rounder the following season.

Could end up our 1st and 1 or 2 second round picks.

Treloar was 2x 1st with a 2nd coming back our way. So it wasn't a flat 2 firsts for Treloar.

Hello there fellow pies supporters ok i have been away and now i am back but i have been keeping tabs on our average year.

Whats all this rubbish about Clokey being traded ????????????????????????????

Who said he'll be traded ? .......Media hounds and outsiders have him out the door before they know what is really going on. How do they know hes leaving ? Has the Club stated he is leaving NO ! Stop listening to outside innuendo and rumours .So far everyone that has spoken from within the club expects Clokey to honour his contract and visa versa and in fact he he doesnt want to leave.

The guys had a rough year or two who hasnt hes been dropped to the reserves its only because of form nothing else...MANY players get dropped because of poor form look at Jake Stringer .

Let me tell you that David Cloke and the pies are currently sorting out a deal to keep Cloke at the pies.

Clokey loves the club and the supporters must love the big fella too.It would be suicide to trade Cloke now. hes why.

We cannot rely on a foward line comprising of Darcy Moore and Cox. Darcy will be a champion one day soon but he is too kamikaze he gets injured to regularly and Cox although shows promise has s a ways to go yet .Fasolo gets injured regularly too and we dont really know whether Jamie Elliot will be back because of his back problem he may not be the same player again. You see too many ifs and buts in our forward line.Jesse White as far as im concerned looks like Tarzan but when it counts plays like Jane. He is definately not the answer up forward,White can only play the third tall role.

I think most of Clokeys problem is between his ears.i noticed he dropped his form ever since the nude photo with Dane Swan came out at the start of the year.Things affected him then.We all know Clokes a confidence player well his confidence dropped since then. Now however going back to the reserves has done clokey some good hes gotten angry again and thats when he is at his best.
We need to play Clokey more up the ground and allow Moore and Cox to develop in the forward line play clokey as link between the back half and forward half forward and allow him to deliver the ball outside fifty then see what happens

Clokey will play well against the Hawks this week.Glad to have him back. We sign clokey for another year and allow him to end his career as one club player which is what he wants. With the likes of tooves,Swan Macaffer gone now we need all the experience we can get .Plaus with the the next 12 months Cloke can fill the holes that are required and we can then set our sights on another younger forward like Hogan, or a Jono Patton when he is out of contract by then Moore will have filled out and would have developed enough with Clokes help

Next year if we want to play finals Cloke must stay.........Think of how many times Cloke carried the club off his own back for years.Always getting smashed by 3 defenders and being the only target which made us predictable.

Bucks Cloke must stay if you want to make finals next year............

Thanks for that. I had seen the first two posts from piemanchu stating "big fish from sunshine state" but hadnt seen the reply you just posted stating " not out of contract till 2018".
Very exciting if true, gona be a long year.

Cloke to play on next year, then target Peter Wright in 2017.

I'm of the opinion that Wright is being anointed very prematurely on this board. Personally I see him unlikely to become a dominant forward - doesn't appear to me to have the pace to get separation, despite his height he doesn't appear to be a natural in terms of contested marking and he doesn't appear to have a ground level game. Other than being an immaculate kick, I don't see the right tools to get enough of the footy to be a dominant forward.

Whist I know that others don't rate his ruckwork - I think he will develop in that area and think if he becomes a star it will be as a second or first ruck rather than as a forward.

The club did not rate Wright in the draft and you think they will now go after him?
Highly unlikely mate.

I have no problems with Cloke staying for another 3-4 years let alone just one year.

Aish says hi!
