Elton is a more natural fwd than defender. Day one he was turned into a defender. Doubt Greg Norman would have been as good a golfer if his coach made him switch to left hand early on? Would like to see this club recruit players and play them in their natural position for a change.
Fair call. I'm going on his efforts as a defender.

You would love a journo, to ask the question of Hardwick at a presser " why isn't Liam McBean getting a senior game considering where the team is, at the moment "
Absolutely. I'd certainly like to know RFC's current view of McBean. But I imagine that if someone did ask that we'd get a response like 'he's got some talent' and 'but he just needs to show some consistency at VFL level'. I doubt we'd get a good idea of whether RFC still sees him as a future first 22 player or not.

Haha!! Surely Lennon is a better bet than some of the flogs playing? Although he doesn't work hard enough...

I just want McBean to put in 3 solid weeks at VFL level (10-12 goals, plenty of contests, some tackles) and then get given an extended go at AFL level... show him reward for consistent effort. Chaplin will make a fine vice captain at VFL level :p

Sure coz 36 goals in his last 12 games is not consistent enough.

Check out his stats this year... plays well one week, then has a horrible game the next....

Face facts, if he was the messiah people think he is, he'd be playing...

He is only 21.... give him some time.

Will be interesting as he is out of contract at the end of the year
Nothing interesting about it. He will walk. Why wouldnt he. Watching a heartless griffiths or vickery play week in week out ahead of you would shit anyone. Especially when they do **** all if they ever play vfl. He will leave and be a good player for someone else. We are a joke of a club. Consistency gets you games... morris and hunt are consistently shit at vfl

Might as well give him a month now to see what he can do, our season is over, so it can't hurt experimenting.

It's not the goal kicking that is keeping him out of the side. It's his lack of effort and intensity when not in possession of the ball that's doing it. In his 4 games before today he has laid 5 tackles.

4 bags of 5 in his last 11 games. He is averaging 3 goals a game over that period so that means that he might kick 5 one week and 1 the next, or 4 one week and two the next.

Why do you have a problem with that?

I dread the day he plays ones because he will cop it big time such is the expectation.
He will or would struggle at senior level. He's not really up to it I don't think.
Very occasionally you'll get a guy who really benefits from playing higher due to better delivery and so forth but I'm just not sure with Mcbean. Worth a crack but I'm not confident at all.

So pretty much like most of our senior players then..........

It's true the people saying he needs to stay in the 2's will be the first one knocking. THe problem is he gets a game and will get dropped straight away because that's what Dimma does. The guy needs to be backed in and play a good bracket of games back to back and gain some confidence, confidence which the club has failed to give him since he has been drafted.

Watching Vickery and Griffiths constantly rewarded with senior time putting no defensive pressure on yet suggesting this guy who actually kicks goals needs to do the same is a bit ironic really.

I can remember another guy who should've been given a bracket of games too just because.
