Has the same issue as Vickery and Griff, all 200cm (give or take a few centermeters) but they're not a big bustling, contested marking forward yet they're not natural ruckmen.
Agree - begs the question - why do we have 3 players like this on the list?

Awesome. Kick all the goals in the VFL that you want.

Kicking goals in the VFL does not equate to kicking goals in the AFL.

And the standard of defenders in the VFL is infinitely inferior to the AFL.

Honestly the VFL is a substandard competition. There are a lot of div 1 local league teams who would be more than competitive at VFL level.
People see that he kicks all these goals, and think that he deserves a gig in the seniors. The problem is that he doesn't really do much else, and that just won't cut it at AFL level.

McBean started so well at Tigerland and has seriously tapered off hey.
He is probably sick of the lack of opportunity.
I do wonder if he is good enough for AFL level but we really need to give him the chance.
Had his chance (2 games:rolleyes:) and didn't win the coaches. VFL form is always hard to judge given the standard of delivery and also defenders.

Writing on the wall for him when Chol got all the NAB games and he watched on fit & ready to go.

I don't know ...seems to work for Vickery

Does Punt Road even have a gym?

But this is what people use to defend Ty Vickery's presence in our AFL team (that he kicks goals). If it is good enough for him, then why is it not good enough for McBean? This is the inconsistency that I sometimes don't understand. One is given consistent AFL games because he kicks goals even though he may not do much else around the ground, but the other is kept out of the team because he kicks goals and does not do much else around the ground.

My point is, just give a guy that has proven that he can kick goals a shot in the AFL. A team with a strong forward line can keep a guy like McBean out, but our forward line has scored the 5th least in the competition. Our season appears to be shot anyway, so try what you have got on your list. Try Markov for a couple games in a row, try McBean too. Once you have and they simply aren't performing, then drop them. This is why I am not really annoyed at the dropping of Lennon. He at least had a few games in a row, so his deficiencies at AFL level would be apparent to the club.

We have already gifted games to many players anyway, so stopping now is going to come off as favouritism rather than setting a standard.

I actually thought McBean showed a bit against Collingwood last year. Presented well and set up a few goals.

Got unlucky with a mark touched of the boot but didn't panic and set up a goal.

Daniher struggles at AFL level at times yet Essendon continue to persist.

And just to add to this, came across this site and was having a read of Beans stats, it seems even though he kicks goals he's fairly ineffectual outside of kicking a few goals.

20 VFL Kicked another five goals and made the most of his opportunities. -
21 VFL 13 disposals and 1.4 before an ankle injury ended his day. -

What this says is he should have been given an opportunity in late 2013 or early 2014 when his form was very sound.
And if memory serves me correct there was a groundswell of support for him to debut, unseen since the days of Justin Plapp!
And that's it in a nutshell .. if we didn't pick him when he was in form, we won't when he's out!

Mcbean is a spud.
He wont make it in the AFL.
He is a good VFL player but that is it.
He is to skinny to play a key position and would get dominated in the ruck.

I'd rather Griffiths in the team than Mcbean. At least he can compete with big bodies.

If Mcbean players 50 games at AFL level I will streak.

If that's the case than we need stringing up for keeping him on the list this year.
What, did we think he'd put on 15kg over summer?
If you have no intention of paying a guy or don't rate him, move them on.
Spots in an AFL list are precious.
There was interest in him from Carlton and elsewhere and we didn't try a trade ... dumb, dumb, dumb!

Thought our fwd line functioned better with the three talls of McBean, Jack and Vickery than any other time. McBean presented and drew defenders away at least and we had a lot more room to work with. Was unlucky he got a couple at his feet which is not making it easy in your first couple of AFL games!

dud delist

THIS is the very attitude that has us where we are right now ... better than probably Essendon and Brisbane.
Dud ... delist.
So you're obviously happy it's taken four years to arrive at this conclusion without us ever giving him a chance.
Great drafting - great development - great work Tigers.

Chaplins papers are stamped. Give the kid a fair shot. Bloody Griffiths has had unlimited chances delivered sfa. Time to unleash the jacks magical beans

Not sure of Chaplin's papers being stamped. He may just get a years extension as depth if our current flock don't fill his shoes...... Unless you have a tomato on the inside?o_O:)
