35.7K: Lousy Crowd - Next Week?

We should realistically play you guys at the MCG, we might get everyone in who wants to see the game at Colonial but it is an ugly fit, it is painful to watch footy there when it is packed out. MCG is better suited for a larger crowd and will attract a lot more neutrals than that concrete coffin will.

Yep, let's face it, there won't be 50K there this week either, simply because it is at Etihad.

If it was at the MCG, even if it was a North home game, this is how it would probably be;

* A crowd in excess of 50K
* Many more AFL Members, and obviously MCC Members also
* Most of the crowd on the bottom 2 decks

But I know North will make more money off a game at Etihad with a crowd of 45K or so then they would at the MCG with a 55K crowd, so in business sense in makes sense for North to have it's home game this week at Etihad.

Actually from memory clubs make more money from the MCG with smaller crowds than they do at Etihad. I think break even at the MCG was something low like 17,000 where as Etihad was a lot higher. I could be wrong but I remember when I first read it I was surprised that the MCG was a lot more profitable than Etihad, which is why I think a lot of teams with home games there were really annoyed and were pushing up the bargaining agreements with grounds.

It is generally difficult to get good seating at North vs Collingwood games at Colonial.

Yeah I didn't have a reserved seat for the game against Port so only had walk-in access on Level 3 onward... to be honest is was ok. Fellow Pie fans were in good spirits (apart from the 3rd qtr). Probably just excited that the season had started again to notice any issues!

For me the biggest issue is that the boundary line closet to you is generally obscured from view on level 3.... not ideal.

Told you it would only be 40K against North.

The top deck was packed unlike the second which was really sparse. Plenty of people spitting the dummy on getting the obscured view next to the big screen. Can't blame them really, plenty of better seats going to waste.

Can't wait to be heading back to the MCG.

I'd say around 80-85 for Carlton given the weather is going to be spectacular.

Hoping for 90K though but I seriously doubt it.

There's no reason it can't, Ch7 showing the game at what, 9 o clock because of the flag unfurling?
Top deck is fast selling out, it's up to the MCG members now, which due to the pathetic, amatuer-hour, delayed and insomnia inducing coverage of the geriatric coaching panel at channel 7 cannot rule out a strong fronting.

I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest 92k, praying for a sell-out so Channel 7 are forced to show it live, **** it up like they always do and a swift backlash against them results in the lack of tv rights for the next few years.
