Toast #37 Kirk Ugle debut

It's always such a treat (and such a rare occasion) to see a new player debut in the black and white stripes. This deserves a tread.

Ugle is one of the few from the 2010 drafts to survive the great cull of 2011. He's provided many solid performances in the VFL over the last 18 months and he has earnt this opportunity.

And what bigger reward for his efforts than a debut on ANZAC day? He's living the dream! And what bigger baptism of fire could there be? These are always very tough games.

Good luck to the lad wearing Collingwood's 37!

I hope he enjoys himself out there and has a cracker of a debut.

Hopefully he won't be wearing the green vest so we can see him in action.

Doubtful though, my guess is he will be the sub.

Yeah, there's a good chance he'll be the sub.

But there are other candidates ...

Seedsman again?
Sinclair has hardly been ripping his games apart?
Is Brown ready for 4 quarters of ANZAC day footy yet?
Has every other player recovered fully from the 4 day turnaround?

I hope Ugle gets a full game.

I'm really hoping that he's not the sub. In these conditions it could be a battle of the small crumbing forwards, as it will be hard to get a mark and the passes won't be as accurate.

Good luck to him!

You don't pick Nathan Brown to play him as the sub. If he wasn't ready for 4 quarters, he would be playing VFL until he was.

Didak may end up being the sub (I hope). I think Ugle will end up getting the full game - these conditions suit him and we need his pace.

Good luck to the kid lets hope he has a big one.

He's done well in the twos and deserves his chance.

Just gotta stay calm, use his pace and in a sense forget the occasion.

I bolded the Most Important thing as in the NAB Cup he did seem to panic a bit

Good luck, Kirk. Four quarters from you, and Sinclair as the sub would suit me to a tee. Unlucky that Paine missed out, but you could see how a smaller forward line makes sense in the conditions.

been waiting to see him in action!

thats the one thing i dislike about the sub rule , takes away from a debutants game.

"yeah i debuted against richmond, didnt get on until 10 minutes to go in the last quarter"

its disheartning to know he may be possibly sitting on the bench for a half, i get so excited about seeing new guys run around in their first game

He did everything right up until that moment and he was called to go too early anyway IMO. Couple that with the crowd noise it would be hard to blame him even had we lost. It was a really encouraging quarter of football really. Wish we'd been able to see more.

As a VFL watcher I've rated him for a while and I would like to see him get some time to really show what he has got.

For mine, we have 3 future classy half forwards in Ugle, Fasolo and Elliot.
