I view Langer as having maximised his talent.Waugh wasn't a complete waste.
My point is that Waugh is seen by many as a partially wasted talent (like it or not, it's a view held by many a cricket fan). Langer is not a wasted talent. Langer is a thinker who was prepared to give different ideas a go. Waugh was not.
Are these different ideas necessary? I think so, as far as they help players improve. Is a suspension justified for an infraction of this nature? Absolutely not.
No one said he was. The claim was that he was a wasted talent. I can't write it in crayon for you, since this is the internet, but to be clear: Mark Waugh had loads of talent but ended his career with a mediocre record. Statistically worse than most of the other guys he batted with. Langer ended up a better bat than M. Waugh, despite being far less talented. The discussion as about attitude. Langer's is good. Mark Waugh's was not.

Not excuses per se, but simply pointing out that the punishment doesn't fit the crime. This could have been dealt with a manner that wouldn't have weakened an already weak side or had photos of the VC checking out of his hotel and heading home half way through the tour splashed all over the papers
To drop players for non-form or non-cricketing reasons used to be reserved for the most of heinous of crimes. This isn't that. Not even ******* close.
The Courier Mail are running a story that Watson may quit all forms of cricket as a result.
Excellent news. Guy was always overrated. Bring in some new talent.

Warnes was good? Calling the coach a goose?

Prolly wouldn't pick the Australian test team based on a players Powerpoint ability.
Yeah, that was brilliant. Warne has a history of pumping up his mates while bearing grudges against those who challenged him. Gilchrist has gone out of his way to defend Buchanan and Steve Waugh thought he was brilliant. Both are less volatile and more credible than Warne. MacGill is the only other player I can think of who has publicly criticised the Buchanan.
Neil De Costa
Andy Flower
John Rogers
Gary Kersten
Graham Thorpe
Indian bloke is pretty sharp, can't remember his name, starts with a V
Also latest news is Watson is apparently contemplating retirement. I guess there's your answer as to why he went home.
And I continue to disagree with you. 8000 runs at an average of 41 and 11 years playing test cricket for Australia is not a wasted talent.
See previous posts about Waugh's career. I'm talking about the very best. I'm sure we could find a few fringe players from the mid-2000's who didn't care for Buchanan.Umm, Mark Waugh?
Mark Waugh is held in very high regard for someone with such ordinary figures. His supporters confuse looking good as a batsman and being good as a batsman.
oh dear
Head coach.
Head coach.
Has been a limited overs batting coach (ha) for one tour. Wowee, get on him. Also the batting coach of the England Lions. The team that our A team whitewashed.
Uh huh.
The point is, bowling coaches tend to be more influential, and both of those positions are hardly pivotal.
I doubt Watto would retire over just this.
There has to be other issues behind the scenes.
What are you oh dearing ?
.
There have been players who didn't like each other still play well together before (Warne and Gilchrist for example). Whatever is going on must be really toxic.
