how is Murphy travelling in the VFL? He looks the type who will play better at AFL level...
Good. He looks at home in the VFL right off the bat, and has been going well enough that he was named in the AFL emergencies early on. Good size, moves well, really nice kick - on a scale of 1 to Brad McKenzie he'd be about an 8. Doesn't mind having a go at weaving through some traffic.

He hasn't racked up big possession numbers but it's a bit hard to tell what that means. Our game style tends not to result in individual high possession winners off HB, but it could also mean he's not a natural accumulator which could be what had him slide to the rookie draft. Wouldn't be at all surprised to see him get a look in at senior level before the year's out.

Some of his contested marks were excellent on the weekend. Starting to add some more defensive weapons to his arsenal.

One on one defending, marking and defensive positioning have all improved rapidly since being drafted.

Can't wait to see him in the seniors using that 60m cannon to bust open some zones.

I see him as being the exact type of player the coaching staff wants in Clarkes role.

Good size, big frame for his height, excellent and penetrating kick, ok speed, has the size to switch off onto talls and peel off to help out Tarrant etc on the main forwards.

I don't think he's ready yet physically, but I think we will see a fair bit of him next year after he has a full season on the weights building his core, he will then have a whole AFL pre-season to get fit enough.

Someone like McDonald better keep an eye in the rear vision mirror.
