Jake Lloyd

Player Profile

Jake Lloyd is a ball magnet, an endurance machine, a clean user of the footy and a calming influence on the Sydney Swans’ half-back line. The former rookie-listed Swan averaged 27.22 disposals per match between 2016 and 2019 and won the club’s 2018 Bob Skilton Medal. Lloyd became the quickest Swan in history to reach 100 senior games when he ran out against Hawthorn at the MCG in Round 8, 2018. He was then recognised as one of the best players in the league when he was selected for Victoria in the State of Origin match for bushfire relief in February 2019. Draft history: 2013 Rookie Draft selection (Sydney) No. 15; 2014 AFL Draft rookie elevation (Sydney).

This is the weirdest go around I have seen in a while.

Kid can play.

He ain't winning a Brownlow (unlike Bird) but meh.

Probably will end playing 150 for us or even more injury permitting. Not too shabby from the rookie list.

Deserves some recognition in his own right and not to be unfairly compared to inside midfielders and players from other times.

Fair to judge him more at the end of this season. Will be close to 100 games and should be coming into his football brain prime by then.

More concerned with others actually producing at their own peak level than this kid. We still rely on so few for so much.

Lloyd does his job just fine.

A good bump because Lloyd is unfashionable and not glamourous but has developed into Mr.Reliable who performs to a good standard every week. Now an essential part of our best 22, 200+ gamer.

Yep, and he seems to know it too. He's got such a cool head on him now when he used to panic every time the ball went near him.

Guess we aren't talking about the 4 dropped marks in the first half when he basically shat himself each time?
No!
We're talking about how he can turn it around instead of dropping in a heap, a critical part of winning a p'ship!
Refer to Luke Ablett in 2005!

He's certainly developed...but bloody hell, it's either a dropped mark or a bomb under pressure which leads to an inside 50 for the opposition. Just needs to learn to take the hit, like Mills does.

Or flatten his kicks.

Not been afforded much space off of HBF to do it though

Kicking around the corner right on the boundry gives me the shits, he does this all the time.

He is a no frills get the job done player, i like him.

almost my fave swans player, will always be 2nd until Cal retires.

The fact that his running capacity gets him to more contests than anyone in your team needs to be taken into account. Players like Parker who can't run out of site in the dark won't be in the position to get under the ball because they can't get to the contest.

Good on him. This year was always going to be make or break year for a few players in his age bracket (Cunningham, Rohan, Reid etc). Good to see him step up.

Start a gofundme page to raise the money to pay out his contract so that he can retire effectively immediately.

We'll roll the $$$ into football size bundles and kick it to him from 30m. He gets to keep anything he catches.

Do we get to keep what he doesn't catch? I wouldn't mind a house in Bondi.

Punts you need to let Jetta go. It's not 2012 and his 15 touches are not worth 30 from Lloyd or anyone else.

Jetta 2017 is a pale impersonation of Jetta 2012. He struggles to get possessions these days and influence a game. Wouldn't be surprised if he wasn't dropped this week. Doesn't take the game on like he used to anymore.
