Bakes COULD go forward again if we wanted to get stack in. He actually likes playing there.
I don't mind Baker but he is a enigma.

The new guy, Bauer, if he plays along with Baker that could work in the forward line.

MRJ I am still not sure about. Not sure in the sense with a lot of development where does he play? He could be a mid, who knows, too early to tell. He has traits but it depends on how he grows, to early to tell, lot of potential though

Bolton will be up forward and midfield, that is just a given

I think with Stack, because he is indigenous and does not lack flair many people think he should play forward because most can/do

In regards to stack I 100% believe we would see him back to his best if settled down back. What first year player have we seen come in a virtually dominate in that position??? With no pre season…. I can’t give up on stack just yet.

It’s an option, and that’s why they tried it last year and early this year, but I think they’ve realised bakes is better in the backline.

Why is Baker better in the backline?

Look I get Baker is competitive, he has a bit of mongrel and is generally positive. He seems to be a player thats good for the culture.

I do not understand why he is better in the backline?

Baker is not useless but he lacks the precision of a Stengle by the looks of it and the aerial ability of a Jeff Farmer but along side a Bauer and others I think as a defensive small forward with skill it could work along with a touch of versatility

Like Stack, Bakers best position is across HB, that's the problem with constantly picking up HBFs in the drafts, eventually you get too many at the club and can't fit them all in to their best role, which means you have to start developing them in other roles, which leads to some players going backwards.

Stack is and will only ever be a backman imo, he runs straight lines and is helped by having a direct opponent to keep him focused and lead him to the ball. I never fully agreed with the idea of trying him up the ground, but if it worked it would have been a master stroke with Stack's skill level, but I think it is now clear that he is not smart enough in regards to structures to play anywhere but the simpler backline position.

Baker looked great up forward pre-season, but as they call it the 'graveyard position' as the small forward can wear a player down if they're not getting a lot of touches and he did seem to be losing confidence. Only a professional like George can withstand years of not touching the ball and not lose confidence...haha sorry George couldn't help it.

This is a forward line I am thinking of.

Full Forward line Baker Gibcus JR

Centre Half Forward Bauer Lynch Clarke

Now obviously Bolton fits here when up forward and likewise Dusty but the idea would be Baker crumbs to the likes of Gibcus, Lynch, JR and even Bauer apart from chaos ground balls using his ground ball prowess and good hands as well as defending defenders

Did u watch the 2nd half? He looked so much better in defense, attacked it hard, ran hard, was creative. Gave 100% effort

It was definitely a step in the right direction cos I agree with u before then he was looking so out of sorts and I really think it’s cos he’s stuck in the forward pocket and it doesn’t suit his personality

It’s a different mentality playing behind the ball, setting up and creating plays rather than just looking for a crumbing goal
That’s depleting for his type of personality and yeah Sydney is def guilty of looking uninterested at times for sure

Just give him a few games in defense before you right him off.. I reckon he will change a few peoples minds
It wouldnt be like our coaches to play a player out of pisition would it, I mean they are Proffesional

This on so many levels. Issue is we have so many small backs.

He’s not gonna replace vlas or baker, or Daniel. Short got moved to the midfield and we just drafted more hbfers
The reality is you can’t have enough hbf

Doesnt help when they put one paced midfield plodders like Martyn there instead who was drafted as a midfiielder.

in his first game up forward he kicked 4 if my memory serves me correctly. The guy can play anywhere, he just needs to get his shit together - and given a fair crack.
