Mostly the obvious innuendo as you so eloquently put it.
Wasn't sure if that was the covid photo. Thought they went with one of him going the "bush hanky".

I agree with the point Buckley makes about investment in the Irish, don't think it applies so much to Connor. He's pretty much going to be plug and play and suit a team like Geelong really bloody well.

The Irish thing as a whole is something I wouldn't mind if the club backed off a bit from. Can't be cheap to scout these guys. You then hope it all translates, put the work into them and all the while they might take off on a whim.

It’s weird. I read the article. What the hell does it even mean? It just says Geelong are in the box seat because he wants to be a horse trainer. Huh?
If he really wanted to be a horse trainer then he would come back to one of the Melbourne clubs within 15km of Flemington where 70% of the states best trainers operate from. The only big name trainer that operates down that was is Danny O'Brien who has a property near Barwon Heads but even his main stable is at Flemington.

Hope he does go to Geelong as a rookie. Then maybe the AFL will do something about the fact the rookie list is a joke. It is well past time to change . Rookies need to be rookies. Players who have not played an AFL game or at a minimum have player under 10 AFL games. Players like McKenna should be on the main list . They can work out a system where they get a low base salary and match payments for X amount of recycled players.

Abolish the Category A rookie list. That simple.

AFL needs to create a waiver wire like in US sports. Anyone out of the system is subject to a week on waivers. If no club takes them then they can sign with whoever. Waiver works in reverse ladder order. One you’ve made selection e.g North picks up McKenna North drops to bottom and 17th team is next up.

The article was simply a John Ralph speculation article with not new facts a few maybe's and no real link to any horse trainer. It said Port , Brisbane and Geelong where interested and had a vague reference to Geelong maybe linking some part time work with a horse trainer which any club could do. Also mentioned Geelong still sorting list spots.

Changing a rule immediately after Geelong benefit from it. Very on brand for the AFL

I don’t think that’s how the actual sports work with waviers. Only the fantasy league waviers (but that can be a option in SuperCoach draft waviers also)

Actual sports like nba the wavier wire is a term for contracted players that are delisted or dropped by a club. If the player signs with a new club in the wavier period then the previous club doesn’t have to pay all or part of the hold over contract.

If player waits till wavier period ends then previous club pays in full.

So sometimes players will agree to a “buy out” where a club pays out say 50% of their contract as they have another club lined up. Win/win.

Here in AU contracts are a joke and need a rework so players can’t renegotiate mid contract Eg bowes

* son, just say you don’t want to represent EFC again, stop with the dermot weld fantasy s**t. w***er.
I am not sure he is doing any talking other than say he may come back. The rest has been media speculation.
