450k for brennan

Good point. i would expect Edwards to kick goals playing the forward line, and Gibbs not to kick goals playing in the backline....again good point!!!

Now I'm confused! Has Gibbs suddenly become a backman? Oh yeh that's right he couldn't kick a goal from 1/2 metre away during his wasteful debut season! To put the icing on the cake, Gibbs' actual game time is was a shit load more than Edwards (which makes Shane's stats more impressive).

P.S Thankyou for praising my good points!

Edwards showed more??? Get serious, even if your 1 eyed you should be honest with yourself!!!

Well, from watching both of them for the majority of the season live (remember kids - had memberships to BOTH these teams;) ) - i'd say edwards first year was more impressive than Gibbs - what that means in the grand scheme of things is nothing - i think Gibbs will be an excellent player for the blues for the next 10 years, as will edwards for the tigers. it's pretty pathetic from all of you trying to compare "dick sizes" with 18 year old kids who play footy for your supported club:rolleyes:

end of the day - both showed they will be players and we should all be happy with that - IMO, if your gonna compare this to that - take a look at Priddis for the EAGLES - IMO that guy blitzed them all by a country mile, a rookie recruit (ala Foley) - so why bother comparing edwards to Gibbs?

Well said Astro...as much as I find dual membership distasteful;)

And since this thread is so far off course. How does Masten, in game style compare with Priddis. Not having seen Masten at all but hearing only that he gets a fair bit of his own footy. Priddis seems more outside (but again from fairly limited viewing).

I know Weaver you rate Masten, do you see him playing similar to Priddis?

BTW Brennan's manager must be ready to make an announcement soon. My money's on a better offer from the Lions being accepted.

The Blues still have room in the Salary Cap. Perhaps we should add him to our already overflowing talent pool. :)

Too bad with all that so called talent you've got an average coach that wont know how to use them.

ratten = Wayne Brittain

Parrot, you love carlton so much, why dont you actually put them down as the team you follow you ****ing moron.

The talent pool is flowing down there at carlton, shit you guys might even "accidently" come 15th this year! shite :eek::eek::eek:

Hahn re-signs with Dogs, Brennan move looking likely

Stephen Rielly | October 23, 2007

WESTERN Bulldog midfielder Mitch Hahn has ended weeks of uncertainty about his future by agreeing to a new three-year contract, a commitment Brisbane's Jared Brennan seems increasingly unlikely to make to the Lions.Hahn, 26, made a successful return to the game this year after a serious knee injury in 2006 and yesterday removed himself from the list of uncontracted candidates for the pre-season draft. But it emerged that Brennan is making preparations to take his family back to Darwin.
The utility's manager, Peter Whitehead, said although his 23-year-old client was still to decide whether to remain with the Lions or bring his inconsistent career to Victoria, he would not be remaining in Queensland. According to Whitehead, the lease on the house Brennan and his family have been living in is due to expire and they are not prepared to commit to a new home in Brisbane.
Whitehead denied the departure was the first step in a relocation to Melbourne, where up to five clubs — Essendon chief among them — have an interest. It was revealed during the recent trade week that the Dons had put a three-year offer worth up to $1 million. Brennan has connections at Windy Hill through former Lion Mal Michael and assistant coach Gary O'Donnell.
"They just don't want to make a quick decision for the sake of making a quick decision," Whitehead said. "He's got to move out, so he might as well go back to Darwin, sit it out and get away from it all if nothing materialises between now and the end of November."
The Lions increased their offer from two years to three, but it is believed that the annual salary remains as much as $80,000 a season below what the Bombers and others have indicated.
Brisbane coach Leigh Matthews yesterday had little to say on the Brennan situation, as the club attempts to keep hold of him. "Nothing has happened, nothing to report there," he said. "We don't know to be honest, it's a work in progress." With AAP

what about a million over 3 years though - which is what it is going to be realistically - considering he aint consting us a draft pick or anything on the trade table - he is worth that :thumbsu:

take him over marsh, knobel anyday

Would be far too tall for Richmonds list.

Greg Miller and Plough love short people.

Expect the Tigers to go after another crumber now Krackouer is gone.

Kayne Pettifer is being groomed as the Tiges go to man when Richo hangs em up at the end of next season.

Ackland got more than a million over 3 years.

Nuff said.

Brennan is worth up to $350,000 for mine but you would have to be sure he was fully committed at that price. You dont want some show pony on $350,000 a year not putting in. Sets a bad example for those getting paid alot less.

If you look at our list, the only reason it appears we love short people is because all our talls suck ass. We have 5 young first round/early second round picks in the draft: Schulz, Hughes, Riewoldt, Polak, Pattison. Vs Hawthorn who have: Bailey, Dowler, Franklin, Roughead. That says to me we actually like drafting talls before smalls.

Miller and Plough dont love short people, they just happen to be alot better at developing them.

A million over 3 years is nothing and l think if we can get $450k on next years salary cap - which should be lower than low - we're managing our list well.

Sometime in the next few years, Lids, Bling, Foley, Reiwoldt are going to come to us with their hands out. And if Brennan has already got half his money, then good work.

If the reason talks are failing with the lions is because he's holding out for 450k a year we should bypass him and let him through to essendon or someone. Think about it, he is one of the least consistant players going around AND YET he still believes he's worth 450k a year. To me that's the mark of someone completely full of themselves. If he thinks he's king shit now playing one good game a year then to me that paints him as someone who's not going to be working very hard on improving himself or his game. If he wanted out of the lions and was willing to go at somehwere around his current wage, that'd show me he is realistic and prepared to improve.

If we want Brennan we would need to pay above market rate for him but we only need to see what other clubs are offering him and pay the same with 1st pick in the PSD. He could be a very handy player for us or any team that forks out for him and could be seen as a bargian if he has a good season.

How different will the Tigers line up look next year if McMahon ,Mitch Morton, Cale Morton or Cotchin and Brennan are running around in our best 22.

Brennan would be more than handy - anyone who saw the lions v pies match this season would realize that this guy is starting to finally come of age. 192cm with a massive leap & speed - can play forward, back or on the wing.

if we get him i reckon our pre season will be an A+ - as long as cotchin is taken at 2;)

mcmahon, morton and Brennan for a loss of 19, & 35 - i would be rapt

That would be a great line up

Newman Thursfield King
Bowden Polak McGuane
McMahon Tuck Tambling
Morton Richo Pettifer
Brown Brennan Reidwolt
Simmo Deledio Foley
Couglahn Patto Cotchin? Johnson

i love that line up

i reckon we should pick Brennan up for 450k

that forward line would be pretty electric - but perhaps to many "do it yourself" forwards. will definitely get schulz and hughes scrambling a bit more:thumbsu:
