Look, I know I’ve called every bloke over 6ft who plays forward that we have drafted in the last 7 years a ‘Carey clone’.
But f*** me, if this bloke ain’t the biggest Carey clone I’ve ever seen, I’ll eat my ‘Corey Mckernan and Chris Anstey signed North Melbourne basketball singlet which we rolled out in the late 90’s, which I still can’t recall how their signatures got on it’.

Impressive number, I would be surprised if Cooper has not improved his vertical in the last 18 months though. He's in better condition now. He has lost weight, improved his strength and taken over a minute off his 2k run.At the 2023 state combine his absolute running vertical score was 342cm (standing reach + vertical).
That was 4th overall at the state combine:
Boston Dowling(206cm): 353cm
Joe Pike (203cm): 346cm
Grant Jacob(193cm): 343cm
It would have been equal 6th at the National Combine that year
2023 National Combine leaders in absolute vertical:
Mitch Edwards (206cm): 359cm
Will Green (204cm): 353cm
Taylor Goad (206cm): 348cm
Zake Zakostelsky (196cm): 345cm
Vigo Visentini (204cm): 345cm
Archer Reid (203cm): 342cm
Wil Dawson (200cm): 342cm
And would have put him clear 3rd at the 2022 National Combine:
2022 National Combine:
James Van Es (197cm): 346cm
Will Verrall (199cm): 345cm
Harry Barnett (202cm): 339cm
Worth noting that when Trembath tested at the state combine in 2023, he came in at 192.5cm (which they round up to 193cm). Fairly clear to see that his numbers are really impressive for his height and it's no wonder he's so formidable in the air.
He loves to aggressively spoil when he can't intercept as well. Loves to smash it away from the contest. In saying that, I'd like to see him forward but could swing ends with Matlock or even Wil Dawson. We’ve seen those two use it to their advantage at AFL level so it’s good that Trembath has an even better profile.
He is a better contested mark than Caddy too, so he has plenty of tools that should hold him in good stead at AFl level.
Be interesting to see where we park him. Forward or back. The contested marking would be a big point of difference for us forward of the ball, but it would be nice to have a dour/natural defender who can also provide an aerial intercept presence.

According to a mate who was there, he was actually our water carrier against the Pies at Vic Park, wearing a Roos hoodie pulled over his head the entire day.The idea that we warehoused Cooper after his game at BL reminded me of the some of the best warehousing I saw first hand.
Sam Naismith had come down from Gunnedah to play at North Shore and the Swans 2's got him down for a game. They already had a ruckman so they stuck him on the backline and he ran through a stoppage, baulked a player and hit a forward, all at 206cm.
Naismith was promptly dragged and never seen again in the 2's only to be rookied by the Swans at the end of the year. Would have been a great player if it wasn't for those knee injuries.
Peter bell got the arse from freo then came to THE ROOSDidn’t Peter Bell play a qtr of a scratch match at North and was immediately put away?

MY point is he was already exposed at AFL level, nothing to hideYeah, I’m aware of that. We picked him up in the preseason draft.

a lot of players have come from other clubs after being delisted and performed better both pre season and during the season, the topic in the pure sense is about warehousing players who have not played AFLGiven we didn’t have dibs on him, and Freo cut him after 1 year, an impressive preseason at North would have put him on the radar.
Yes.Didn’t Peter Bell play a qtr of a scratch match at North and was immediately put away?

hoYes.
Denis whisked him off with some comment like "that'll do son" and the papers ran with us likely to take Traianidis (St Kilda took him) after he played a great game including bicycle kick goal in the North ressies flag in1995.
shows how unaware you are,his first 2 touches were goals, neesham was ahead of his time as coach,i am born and bred in perth so i know what i am talking about, bell was not athletic enough in the eyes of the coach,he had a point to prove and north were the beneficiaries,to say that clubs were not aware of Bell and we were hiding him after one quarter in a praccy game is ridiculous, like saying Maley never plays again for north and gets delisted then trains with the bombers and they like what they see after one quarter and hide him in the hangarLOL..."the topic in the pure sense"...Bell had **** all AFL exposure, and we hid him after a qtr of a praccy.
ho

A slow, undersized player does not jump of the page, particularly a delisted oneListen to yourself mate,if you think other clubs did not know who bell was then no one can help you, they did not pick him.before us for whatever reason but he was no world beater at the time and a quarter or two in a praccy game is not going to alter a clubs perception,,if it makes you sleep better that north hoodwinked the rest of the comp then go ahead, sleep well.
