Very important player to our midfield working well again. reckon the Soldo Nank combo is elite - absolute synergy 1 + 1 = 12

great combo. They both provide something different in the ruck which is good for keeping the oppo on their toes

I was just about to post the same thing

RFC clearly rates Soldo miles ahead of CJ when a 4 year 22 year old pick #20 doesnt get the contract of a cat b Rookie player thats done a knee and still in rehab

Could be more about AAV than length - CJ could've (probably would've) wanted more $ than Soldo.

His inclusion into the side last year, was a huge turning point to our season. He gave us superiority at center bounces and forward. Nank is a beast around the ground and uses his strength to full effect at ball ins and stoppages. He also is amazing at dropping back and marking balls that could easily turn into opposition goals. Playing Soldo and Nank in tandem gave us the best of both worlds.

I would much prefer having both of them playing, one in the ruck, the other moving forward or back depending on the situation in the game. This is something neither Chol or CJ could offer us - flexibility to be able to successfully dominate a position on the ground and confidently support another area of the ground when needed.

Where Chol could have moments of brillance, he was always a reluctant forward. He was unwilling to throw his body around, smash packs and seemed lost without the ball. CJ could take a grab against a defender but was too slight to compete against more experienced defenders. Both were good at goal kicking but neither competed consistently, at an AFL standard, as rucks or forwards.

Soldo and Nank have the mongrel that neither of the other two do. They break the packs, tackle to hurt, shepherd and outbody. They are both strong ruckmen with different strengths that compliment each other. They can move forward and, at the very least, upset opposition defensive structures and, at best, create goals. They can also move up the wings, turn the ball over or take an intercept mark. Lastly, they can fall back into our backline, support the defenders and help flood the area to drop off and take a mark.

This is why Soldo is so valuable to us and Chol and Cj are not.

Oh yeah, what a coup! Signing the bloke whose best season yielded 7.7 disposals a game and a single goal over 14 games to a three year deal when we only offered the other guy who kicked 4 goals in his second game and whose ruck work is miles ahead at the same age a two year contract.

Where is Soldo going to go? There must be so many other teams lining up for a 25 year old ruckman that never played football as a junior (and hasn't it shown) and whose knee injury was so bad he has needed two surgeries on his knee and still isnt back on the field. He must have had to beat all the teams chasing him off with a stick there would have been so many lol

What a joke he wouldn't have made a list if it wasnt for his cousin and that he played in 2018 ahead of CCJ looked like Nepotism to me at the time and still does

3 years for a player that had a very bad injury to his knee and is a big man is high risk.

Also our game plan of never win clearances that was found out this year allowed for not the best players to play well in their "role".

Ivan is as likley to be like George and Pickett ... down hill skiers
