Good on him. I am sick and tired of people saying how Ryan O'keefe was unlucky to miss the side. He is one of the most overrated footballers going around.
i was pretty excited that he got it , i wasnt expecting him to when they read out the other forwards in contention.
hes easily one of the best small forwards along with SJ, hes probably done what didak did a few years ago when he earned his AA. whilst kicking his bag of goals for the season, hes pretty much put himself ahead of other small forwards by bringing his other forwards into the game with his unselfish play and goal assists. on top of that his defensive pressure is outstanding.
elite for his position , in terms of the whole afl i save elite for the likes of judd bartel brown ablett

I was actually a bit suprised he was named in the starting 18 to be honest and thought a spot on the bench would have been more appropriate. I too think okeefe had a better year. Medhurst did go missing at crucial times this year and tended to play really well against the bottom sides.

Good effort by medhurst to get the nod. I'm surpised motlop missed out considering he kicked more goals with less games (finals not included) in a team that had a shocking year.

He is good, don't get me wrong. And he has played far better this year then anyone ever thought he could, and played a very important role in helping you blokes to the finals. He deserves his AA jumper. But there is no way he is elite. Nathan Buckley was elite. Does Medhurst even deserve to mentioned in the same breath?

Definitely just reward for a fantastic 2 years at the club. Has really turned his career around.
No doubt he is one of our best players now. When planning for Collingwood, you must organise your opponent for Medhurst. He'd be one of the first names you'd plan for.

Barring age (because it's about just this year, not how many years left in career) if you had to recruit one. Which would you recruit ?
In saying that though, I'd assume they've put Richo on the bench with the intention that he would be rotating in to the midfield, rather than just naming him in a fixed forward position.
Depends on how you look at it then, best 22 v (theoretical) functioning side.
Maybe they are just swaying too far to the "in positions" angle though. Probably more than one player in the best 18/22 not getting a guernsey then.
