Police found a footprint they believe is Gus about 500m from the homestead. Not the one near the dam.

They’re saying the new footprint is unrelated.

A minions shirt similar to the one Gus was wearing. That's not going to stand out a lot in that scrub, especially if he's laid down in it and it's covered in dirt.

I think the one the other day was legitimately his but this next one is not

Depends on the type of land and rainfall.
Usually 2 to 3 metres and the bottom is a foot of pure run off mud.

Here’s a screenshot of the property from google maps, you can see the dams to the south. The only vegetation appears to be saltbush and maybe the odd tree. It’s hard to believe if he wandered off that the search crews couldn’t find anything given it’s not dense coverage of mallee trees.

At the risk of potentially giving up the exactness of this, I'd be keen on seeing what the boundaries of that settlement was and if there are any indications of electric fences or just fences abounding in general.

On one hand, the vastness is such that you could barely pick up on any activity.
On the other, its arid nature and the arboreal absence would make one stand out.

On this, maybe it's low hanging but I couldn't help but think of Cleo's case due to what are, for me, similar environments.

At the risk of potentially giving up the exactness of this, I'd be keen on seeing what the boundaries of that settlement was and if there are any indications of electric fences or just fences abounding in general.

On one hand, the vastness is such that you could barely pick up on any activity.
On the other, its arid nature and the arboreal absence would make one stand out.

Not going to be able to do that without a visit to the lands title office and then you’d need the ownership details.

A bit more info, it’s a 60,000 hectare property I’m not going to do the sums but I reckon the property must extend almost to the town of Yunta which is 43 km away. It’s a massive property

I did look at the zoomed in screenshot but not thought to zoom out while on Google Maps.

If one was to run/walk off and continued to do so, it's evident there are potential hurdles/boundaries.

Those cracks look like river flows.

Either they're river flows or heavily deep hills which are potentially irretrievable without machinery.

The property is in a location call Grampus, Grampus hill has an elevation of 300m so I reckon what you can see are part of the Grampus ranges which I think are north of the property but there are definitely creeks running through there but wouldn’t have water very often unless there are natural springs up that way.

A lot of people are asking when was the last time anyone else other than the grandparents saw him. This information could clear up a few concerns.

There is a lot of pressure on SAPOL as they don’t exactly have the greatest track record with large profile cases (rightly or wrongly)

They would have been looking at every possibility and would have gathered a lot of data (triangulation of phones, sms , emails , financials ) of anyone close to gus

Correspondence would be key in recent days, I reckon absolute triangulation out there would be tough but pings in the perimeter maybe useful.

I’ve located the dam they searched after finding the false footprint. It’s 3.5km west of the homestead. I’ve circled it so you can gauge the distances the searches are dealing with

Not understanding what you are getting at - I don't see any similarities in the physical 'environments'.

Cleo disappeared from a public campsite, on the coast, near major roads and not far from a major town, with plenty of unidentified random transient people nearby.

Gus disappeared from a private inland property, nowhere near any roads or towns, with very little water around, and only a finite number of readily identifiable permanent residents around.

Or did you mean something else?
