Was the family friend actually saying people from the entrance to the property, have to get out and open and close six gates to get to the homestead?

Ok I think it’s paywalled now but it was something like stop the conspiracies theories, that Gus had not been taken, and there is 6 gates between the property and main road.

Wonder if it's pressure that is making them look further or was something found?
Maybe they have tracked someone being outside of the search area on the day.
That sandpit looks like it could be hard for a small child to dig in. Looks like it would need a metal spade to dig, not the normal beachy plastic type.
Not much said about the 'what's called a sandpit' really from the police except to say he was last seen there

Yep I’ve been to numerous rural properties where it is 3-4 gates to get to the home , it’s certainly nothing unusual on large properties like this.

Could this be a 3rd party?
We don't even know who in the family was allowed to talk to each other, the media is all over the place on this one

It’s one property. A property like this will be divided into multiple paddocks, the homestead will traditionally be located somewhere central. So from the boundary of the property following the track to the homestead, old mate is saying there are 6 gates - think one gate into the paddock starting at the boundary, one gate out of that paddock into the next, until you reach the house.

I’m a huge proponent of grids myself, must admit they’re not always as effective at keeping stock in the intended paddock but the convenience is sometimes worth it if you subscribe to the whole “happy wife happy life” theory. Also, old mate could just have been exaggerating slightly too because people do that, and I’d hazard a guess he hasn’t a whole lot of media training to fall back on. The number of gates is 100% not weird at all though.
