Gus's grandmother held a shotgun up in the air and warned Daily Mail reporters off as tresspassers, saying "Get out!" "Shut your faces and get out!" and they've been warned, she'll call the police etc.

Gets weirder and sadder by the day imo .why are the grandparents so defensive. !

Stress maybe. Not everybody reacts or grieves in the same way.

I hope he can be found.

Even if you hold a licence, pointing or waving a shotgun to threaten someone is not a lawful use and will very likely lead to criminal charges (and your licence being revoked) in SA.

I and my family would act in the same way.
got no dramas with thier behaviour.
And yes I understand the so called timeline at this stage.
Respect your opinion Sqotty
but disagree. Iff one of mine went missing
I’d be in front and centre of media at least once . And no
shotgun. Jmo.

Gus lived at the Yunta homestead with his mother and two grandmothers, Shannon and Josie Murray. Josie transitioned several years ago and now identifies as female. It seems it was Josie who was threatening reporters with a shotgun.

Which grandmother was looking after Gus when he disappeared?

Just imagine you are innocent but you are constantly reading and hearing that there is more to this story than what is being revealed. Not only are they grieving they are dealing with pathetic paparazzi, online trolls and conspiracy theorists. I couldn’t fathom what they are going through especially if they are completely innocent. I can easily understand how someone could snap and do something stupid given the circumstances.

She didn't point, she held it up on the vertical with the barrell facing upwards but I agree that she's risked her license if she has one, if it's licensed to someone else, they've also risked theirs.

The latest reports have said that the family reported that Grandparent Shannon was with Gus and his brother and Josie and Jess were 10kms away.

According to a police statement, they are satisfied that Josie was dispatching a snake on the patio when the Daily Mail reporter and photographer approached the house. Hmm ok.
Anyway there’s some additional good footage of the terrain at the property in the video.

Correct.
Given the scant details I can imagine exactly the reactions and thoughts of the people at the farm.
Looked for kid thinking he would be found, and other 2 returned to house, then realising its getting beyond control and call for help that's 40 kilometres away.
That's the reason they didn't call town in the 1st place as they were thinking they'd find him easy enough .
I said this earlier on this thread that there is no way the ses and police searched every place as as shown there are shrubs you can hide an adult under.
I also said if autism is involved the search SHOULD take on a different search.

So far everything points to a kid walking off.

Not sure this is the sort of person with whom I'd be happy to leave a 4YO kid.
This isn’t necessarily the persona they normally have either given the circumstances they are under.

The same could be said of many serious offenders. It's how they behave under pressure which is most critical, not their normal persona.
I don’t see them as an offender though, it seems like you’re trying to frame them as a nasty person whos unhinged. This is not a scenario many people are used to , trying to hold things together would be extremely hard. It’s also extremely common for people in rural properties to have guns and to use them to kill snakes so I don’t really have an issue with this scene. They may not have even seen the crew there when they had the gun out and it triggered them and rightly so.
I guess I’m just being more empathetic than others to this situation and rather than going down a rabbit hole of him being abducted or killed by the family I’m believing that he has simply wandered off and they haven’t been able to find him yet.

I never said they were an offender. I just said that peoples behaviour under pressure tells us more about them than their normal persona (or demeanor).
We only have a snippet of video to go on. But a person whose immediate response to a snake is to grab a shotgun (presumably loaded or ineffective) and whose immediate response to being visited by reporters is to yell at them, shotgun in hand, and who does not welcome public assistance in searching for Gus, just does not exhibit the type of behaviours I would personally like in a person responsible for looking after a small autistic child on their own.
Many people who DO end up committing violent acts do not normally exhibit violent behaviour, but can be triggered.
Looking after small children is a mental challenge, as many small children display challenging behaviours - crying, tantrums, disobedience, bed wetting, refusing to do basic tasks, etc. Carers need a certain amount of tolerance and patience, especially with children with development issues. People without appropriate parenting experience or training, or who have mental or social challenges (antisocial, depressive, angry, intolerant, prone to violence, ... ) themselves may not be appropriate carers.

Daily mail were invasive but guns should be taken from the property in my opinion.
If Josie was tending to a snake beforehand they could have put the shot gun down before confronting the reporters.
Tensions are boiling.
People coming through your gate and up the driveway in the country are either family/friends or straight out enemies.
My dear brother usually walks out onto the verandah in the nude or jocks with his empty shotgun and it paid off.
