1. Ratten's coaching and team selections.

2. Waite's cruel injury.

3. Failure of our big men to dominate (marking) around the ground.

4. The number of missed set shots throughout the year - Fevola and Judd stand out and Simpson earlier on.

5. Last night's insipid last quarter.

What are your negatives?

1. Selections including Scotland, Stevo and Hoops spending extended periods out of the side, probably cost us 4th or 5th position.

2. Selection for the final , no back up for Bower on Bradshaw

3. Lack of zoning. Watching the elite sides they all zone heavily

4. Warnocks stress fracture Waites knee and losing Jammo

5. Yarran I was hoping he would have an impact like Cyril did in his first year

1. Injuries to Waite, Jamieson and Warnock. The injury to Warnock particularly hurt our structure as Kruezer was unable to play forward until Hampson stepped up

2. Loss to Essendon at the start of the year

3. Fev's miss against Hawthorn

4. Ratten's inability to coach with the worst example against Adelaide at football park

5. Match committee's inability to make the right selections. Yarran should have been given more match time, Setanta kept getting dropped, and the fact that Bentley got some games is a disgrace

1. It may seem like a positive after the many poundings we got in previous seasons, but losing a handful of games by small margins when we should have won. We should have never been playing Brisbane up there.

2. Injuries - waite and jamison...and hadley in the last weeks of the season.

3. Midfield being good one way but forgetting about working hard and running back allowing many teams to run us over.

4. Still not establishing another key forward to help out Fev. Setanta, Cloke, Fisher...none are good enough.

5. Coaching - no plan B, inability to change things around...predictable at times. Selections were not great at times either.

The massive gulf between our good and our bad
When we play well we can compete with anyone and when we are crap we are horrendous. That must be a mental think. Lack of intensity is a sign of immature mindsets and poor preparation.
We are saying often we have poor skills but most of the time it is poor decision making
These are the 2 facets we need to address

1. Injuries to Waite and Jamo
2. Fev hitting the post vs Hawthorn
3. Losing to Essendon twice
4. Losing to Freo on the Gold Coast
5. Losing last night's game the way we did

1. Waite / Jammo /Warnock injuries
2. 2 losses to the red and black scumbags
3. The gap between our best and worst
4. Our inability to restrict oppositions from scoring heavily i.e our accountability
5. Predictable game plan - no plan B or C

1 - losing Waite. This was a wider loss for us all as he is a great player to watch. His injury pretty much doomed you to the middle of the ladder (or thereabouts) because there was no replacement of his calibre. I hope he comes back as good as ever.

2 - losing Warnock - Kreuzer is a gun and surely would have taken some of the pressure of Fev if he had been in a position to spend more time up forward

3 - selecting Yarran over Rich.

4 - Fev's output, while still impressive enough, failed to reach the heights of 2008. He ain't getting any younger.

5 All coaches have limitations. Ratten failed to get that extra 5% out of players such as Scotland and Stevens. They are no better than what they were two years ago. Their defensive game, as others have commented recently, was poor and remains so.

Biffinator.

3 - selecting Yarran over Rich.
Or we should have picked Watts ahead of these two players to get the wrong tall.

Melbourne. :o

Good luck with Tom Scully and Jack Trengove...

Carlton will add a better talent in Yarran to the team that made the finals. :)

I couldnt reduce mine to 5:o

1. Rattens coaching. (cost us a few games) get a plan B,C and D

2. Waite's injury, Not seeing Warnock play,Jamo & Hadley's injurys late.

3. Playing a final in Brisbane, and losing the way we did (should of got a final)

4. Grigg (went backwards) Yarran (expected more)

5. Still havent sorted the forward line, Fish,Cloke,Wiggo=DONE

6. Scotland's season

7. The axeing of O'Hailpin prior to Brisbane game (what was the thinking:mad:)

8. John Elliott

9. Losing to Essendon TWICE (esp the 2nd one...just after the break and with all the talk) and being out coached bu an albino.

10. Ratten's mid week media conferences earlier in the year.

1. No Plan B. (Evidence of Plan A is still pretty weak.)

2. Losing to Essendon twice.

3. Fevola's miss.

4. Difference btween our good and bad is far too great. This goes to all players with Fevola and Judd being probably the biggest culprits. That is because of how good they can play but they can also play awful. Then again when they play bad you want other players to step up.

5. Injuries. Shit timing for most. Bower looked injured almost all of last night so it's pretty stupid to pick only 2 defenders considering. Losing Waite and Jamison cost us top 4 spot.

Picking Garlett over Setanta for last nights game. Would have given us more up forward and in case of injury/bad form we could have swung him back.
If he wasn't injured it is a disgrace he wasn't picked.

Father son rule!!

Who said footy trips were a bad thing!

Top 5 negatives not in any order:

1. Inability to maintain defensive pressure throughout the midfield consistently from match to match.
2. The return of blood clots in Setanta O'hAilpin's legs towards the end of the season.
3. Jarrad Waite, Jamison and Andrew Walker's lengthy injuries throughout the season.
4. The unfortunate lack of development in Shaun Griggs game who's form unfortunately seemed to go backwards this year.
5. The rape allegations that we didn't really need coming into the final series against former players.

Melbourne. :o

Good luck with Tom Scully and Jack Trengove...

Why hammer the guy for posting the truth about our drafting?

It really is time to just accept that our recruiters got it wrong.

Admitting Rich would have been a better selection doesn't mean you're a Yarran hater. It just means you're honest.

1 Not playing twice in Perth
2 Not turning up to so many games switched on
3 the rape bad press
4 Not performing on big stages like Fri night blockbusters V Ess Pies and Finals
5 Not playing D Ellard

There is admitting to mistakes and there is constant bagging of one player. I'm not saying Biffinator did this but Yarran cops a lot of crap of this board and telling the "truth" doesn't need to be said over and over again or put into a signature. People shouldn't be applauded for say that taking a project player over a ready-made tank is a negative.

1. The big injuries.
2. Not playing 4 quarters of football
3. Kick-in problems
4. Stevens & Scotland
5. Yarran vs Rich.

Areas I would really like to see improved next year are endurance, gut running, more effort made to run back into defence, Physical pressure right from the first bounce and maintained for the whole game and eradicating a lot of the unforced skill errors that seem to kill us through out the game.

4 - Fev's output, while still impressive enough, failed to reach the heights of 2008. He ain't getting any younger.

I'm not picking on you because you're a Melbourne supporter but...

Fevola 08: 99 goals 51 behinds, 150 scoring shots, 258 disposals, 129 marks, 38 tackles.

Fevola 09: 86 goals 56 behinds, 142 scoring shots, 288 disposals, 143 marks, 47 tackles, Coleman Medal

Would have kicked more accurately if not for having his foot jabbed up to be virtually numb for the first half of the year.
