Its completely idiotic that the club has been playing him in the ruck while leaving Balta to continue to go backwards at FB.
Gray should be in the backline & Balta moved into ruck. So ****ing obvious

Spud is harsh. I think he's just a very raw prospect. Hopefully Gibcus will start to put some selection pressure on and Gray can develop his craft in the VFL.

Not great tonight but had some good moments.
Just starting to show how handy he might become down back. He has the potential to be easily as good as Broad.
Good kick and doesn't panic under pressure. 195cm and quick, with great closing speed and long arms, some clutch spoils v WC. Very good agility for his size and a good spring with a bit of hang time. Speaking of hang-time, pity about the almost hanger. Starting to add some rebound to his game. The homegrown tatts add to the emerging cult status.

Think he’ll be a grimes type. Plays hard and desperate and has tricks. Can jump too

I love this kid. He is desperate to win the ball. I always remember Rance saying his greatest strength was his desperation in defense and he urged Grimes and Astbury to be the same, as if every contest was life or death. Gray follows the same ethos. He may not be a polished performer, but he has a good turn of foot, showed he has a massive leap and isn't frightened to take his opponent on. Other more highly rated defenders in our squad could learn a thing or two from this attitude.

Was cramping 10 mins into the last quarter and was struggling physically.
Was still able to still will himself to a one on one marking contest and get the ball to ground against the odds.
Might not be the most polished offensively but like Broady he could be tidy enough to make a career out of it.
I like him and hope we persist.

He's showed a lot of promise and been very serviceable in basically every game he's been played in position. Persist as a defender, he plays with heart.
The ruck experiment was ridiculous, but props to him for doing it for the team.
