No idea if 5g is dangerous but my NBN has slowed down soooo much since 5G has gone up in my area the past couple of weeks. ******* pissing me off.

sort it out geezers.
Damn. You need those high download/upload speeds for online gaming. I hate lag and packet loss with a passion

Having been involved with Telco infrastructure in a past life, the fact people are more worried about the frequencies in Australia that are used for 5G services (i.e. those with far weaker penetration) and have no issues with the 4G spectrum is more ignorance and a lack of public information than anything else.

Ignoring of course, if you check the RFNSA website in your area you'll occasionally find Telstra re-purposing 3G spectrum (and 4G spectrum in some rural areas) anyway.

Yep. 5G spectrum is the worst possible spectrum to use if mind control is your goal lol. 5G home internet requires an external antenna for example.

Is it next year 3G is shut down? I love my Samsung brick work phone tbh but it only works on 3g. Good ole fashioned buttons, no touch screen. Can't kill the thing.

The three Mobile Network Operators have different timefarmes for shutting their 3G services down so it's hard to say.

Anyone can subscribe tot he RFNSA website to get email alerts to changes to either a single site or every site in a postcode. It's the only reason I learned about the re-purposing of 3G spectrum by Telstra (some of their 850MHz bands).

Whirlpool has a better run-down on Mobile frequency use than anywhere else really:

It's about higher frequencies destabilizing the body's cells, causing bodily harm, illnesses, etc
GG, I admire your enthusiasm but this is a gross over-simplification and blatantly unscientific.
Everything up to 6 GHz is classified as non-ionizing radiation, and the ARPANSA maximum limits are set at just 2% of any observable change - and mobile phone technology is designed to operate on the lowest power possible, so in the real world EME is just a fraction of the theoretical maximum which is a fraction of an observable limit which is (in layman's terms) enought to heat the surface of the skin by 1 degree celcius.

If you're in the sun for a few minutes per day, you've likely exceeded the maximum allowable EME from any RFNSA listed site in Australia.

Then you have to consider 5G mk2 will include 'beam-forming' which eliminates most of the EME not being used for a single connection anyway. No doubt the conspiracy theorists will be up in arms about it, but it reduces EME significantly to anyone not holding their handset.

Yeah still slated for 2024 for Telstra at least

Had someone recently asking me about using a 3G reliant system in a remote location and they were unaware it was getting shut down next year :straining:

Edit: Expanding on what Mofra said, end dates for the Telco's and 3g
Vodafone December 2023
Telstra June 2024
Optus September 2024

I still remember the good old CDMA phones. They had great reception.

Nah the old school tech was the best, but even that was subject to government spying
