Played a half, kicked 2 or 3, and was a very dangerous target
The forward line has been basically dysfunctional today v Rich, we might as well have played big Joe to give him & the small fwds a chance to gel going into rd 1
forward line has been dysfunctional more due to the midfield performance, which has been rushed and unpolished and so forth though
which isn't to say that i think a forward line in which hurley and ryder are expected to be consistent, high performers is a recipe for success

And with 3 subs he could have easily just played a half if they wanted to manage him..

thats what i thought too. i went to 2 round one matches by just scanning in.
Ill be calling the membership department Monday.
i wouldnt have thought it was a sellout, but the Geelong members would be gagging for some footy at the home ground with less games and the first not till like round 10.

At times was buffeted about by bigger bodies as expected, but his reach is freakish (As is his tiny head). The defenders had real trouble countering that reach, on at least 2 occasions got free kicks for having his arms knocked away. Also had a brief stint in the ruck.
Sat next to Alex Browne. He seems convined that Joey is going to be a superstar. Also a huge wrap for Martin Gleeson, saying he will be ready sooner than later.
