Our most important player alongside Hooker.
We are going to be cooked without him.
No one to bring the ball to ground, no good relief ruck. I'd take his 3 goals 6 everyday over our other forwards 1 goal straight.
Their defenders will pick us off like they have the last 2 years.
Our midfielders need the confidence of his presence.

I knew he was gone the moment Harley met with Daniher.
Sydney will have to pay up or we keep him.

If he's unhappy with the medical team, well we're changing in that department.

Yep. I don't blame him at all. If he chose Sydney from the beginning, then he'd have success.
 
If he leaves, it won’t be the fitness department to blame, it will be the flogs who see him out and about and go up to him and want to chat to him.

That would happen to every player though, mostly. And that won’t stop if he goes to Sydney. It’ll be a big news item and Sydney fans will know who he is.

It is a very big part of the reason he wants out. His old man isn’t too happy...

This whole thing is incredibly worrying.

I'm upset he's leaving but like you I don't blame him, though the way this has been managed is pretty poor. League needs to get better with players leaving and moving. Not months of media speculation and denials. Do the band-aid treatment.

But the really worrying thing is we have a father son, best and fairest winning leadership group member deciding he wants out. Considering he was a key part of why Shiel came to us.

We now have no proper key forward and this totally upsets our balance going forward.
We have drafted for the next two years and now lost a key piece. Our pay structures were done with him in the team.

What is really annoying is the mistruth though, the coffee with a mate stuff is just BS and has now creates a situation where Essendon flogs will turn on him. Where as if he and the club were honest people would sympathise. Again we have been worried about the optics and it's blown up in our faces.

Club will move on and be fine, we should get some great draft capital. But if the things that led to this havnt been fixed it doesn't fill me with great confidence that we will be this great team going forward.

But we now have a favourite son not leaving for money or opportunity but because he doesn't want to be at the club anymore.
That rips the heart out.

He's gone mate, we all know how this works.
This isn't a performing player who we hold because we aren't satisfied this is a player who is being valued on form two years ago and we have an interim year with our coaching department.

The smart thing is to do this quickly and cleanly. No spin, no media games. We are trading Joe Daniher, this is our price.
But ideally we only allocate 20% of resources to that negotiation and we spend the rest of the time working on getting a capable forward into this club.
2021 should be the focus for the next 18 months.
