If it was a Thursday night game finishing that late I would understand..

They were comparing ratings from Thursday nights vs Friday nights, but completely overlooked there are less Thursday games (that also have higher profile matchups) and last years Friday nights had a lot of dud games especially featuring Carlton. They could always bring the start time forward 10 mins.

The fact that at and the end of the day, it’s about people having to stay up late to watch their team. Are you that thick?

Champions league games start at 21:00. Last time I went to one, I wasn’t home before midnight on a weeknight. It has everything to do with the original post and gripe

If you have a family or commitments saturday morning going to the game and getting home before midnight would just struggle to happen

You realise the majority of people have a major commitment before the game and will struggle to get there on time if it started earlier. You only need to look at Thursday night games where 30-40% enter after the game has started.

That was only pre-season games and games from Perth that had a 8.40 start. Friday night in Melbourne was always a 7.30 start time.
