With Hille going down in the first ten minutes, we should have smashed it up in the midfield. But Ryder came on and dominated there.

Josh was listless against Ryder, but that was evident very early on. Why Mick didn't instruct the players to sink the knee into Ryder or run him ragged is God's own private mystery. Advantages like that don't come along very often an we should have killed Ryder. A well placed knee from L Brown in Ryder's mid-rif would have helped significantly.

I thought the players endeavour was pretty good, but it doesn't help when you kick it out wide repeatedly. It's as predictable as Haley's Comet.

The fact is that Essendon is a 3rd rate side that should have been buried. They ran through the middle and killed us despite their ordinary personel. For me Mick has shown today that in the only aspect of the game that he solely controls, game day coaching, he is too limited. Bring on Bucks.

who says he didnt tell the players to run Ryder into the ground? im pretty sure thats what they were trying to do by rotating fraser and brown in the ruck and when brown was on him he constantly ran up and down the ground and drew him away from the ruck contests. while when there was a ruck contest in the forward there would be a swap to cloke and rocca rucking. so i have the feeling they were trying to demise Ryder but it had no effect on how he was playing.
Fraser should have buried him just by himself but had a sh#t game and cost us many centre clearances. but apart from that agree new tactics need to be revised and time to start using the corridor instead of the slow moving boundry crawling that we do leaving the corridor wide open for a counter attack.:(
