Sorry to say it, but with edwards inability at this level to play anywhere, we played a man short last night. WALKER SHOULD HAVE PLAYED!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If Hampson is good enough to get a new 3 year deal, then he is in our best 22. How much better did we look with either Kreuzer or cloke in the forward line.

I think the selection panel are the best to judge if Walker was ready. Yes he took a good mark but with the bigger bodies he could break down if not ready to rock

I agree we loke much better with cloke or krooz down there. Pitty it took them 3 qtrs 2 do this. 2 qtrs to realize waite was getting a new 1 ripped by nick and they 3 1/2 qtrs to move carrots off that liitle maggot milne.

Whether Walker should have played or not will only be known by the match committee / medical team.

Very harsh on Jake, did he struggle more than Carrazzo, Russell, Thornton, Cloke etc??

Carlos has been very poor of late. We gave him time after his illness pre-season but at the minute does not deserve inclusion and I haven't heard bright lights out of the Bullants

I think a week in the Bullants would be great for his form, attitude and contract negotiations. Imagine the poor full back who copped him

Saints fans - always blaming ups etc. If you believe them they have been robbed of at least 78 flags in the last 20 years

Sorry but its not harsh on Jake, he has nothing.

In front of me he had a perfect sit to jump onto a saints opponent back & take a regulation speccy but that option didn't seem to enter his head.

The guy has no tricks.

Does anyone know what walker did.
Btw when i asked Walks if he was playing on thursday he looked at me and didn't answer. I thought nothing of it at first.

Would u care to name the 6 goals from free kicks where the free kick wasn't there. Ill be very interested to know. There is no point bitching about free kicks in the forward line if they are there

why would I make an excuse? We won!

My point is you got gifted 6 goals from free kicks and another goal that clearly hit the post!

and id just like to point this out mr saints supporter- you had the best list in the afl for 4 years and you failed to win the premiership and now you are on the decline. yes you did beat us but we were at our very worst.
unlucky about missing out on a premiership opportunity (last 4-5 years) and now you are on the decline. dont get cocky just because you beat us-you were at your best, we were at our worst.

You stole my thread title BUT we lost because Setanta didn't play

Our problem over the last few years against St Kilda has been their tall forwards. Not only were we missing Bower but they dropped Setanta. That left Waite to carry the load

And then when Waite was sent forward, we had no-one to cover Milne and Reiwolt

Setanta would done the following:
-been great against Kosi
-moved the ball out of defence with precision
-added a real physical presence down back

I do not want to turn this thread into another Thornton bashing forum but I cannot believe the selectors put so much reliance on him

I dont put any blame at thornton at all, the problem for us is still depth and imo it is time to forget thoughts of finals and build for 2009 bring in Austin, play Hartlett at chf, play Hampson in the ruck, Kruz on the wing,
Walker must come in to the side, who makes way for this, i dont care we need to answer some questions on most of these guys lets find out now if there up to it or not.

Ill be happy to..

Fevola - 2 Goals from Free Kicks (Only way Fev can get goals Vs. St.Kilda, soft Free Kicks)
Cloke - 1 Goal from Free Kick (Pretty soft)
Gibbs - 1 Goal from Free Kick then 50 Metre Penalty (Gibbs was off, don't remember what the Free Kick was for)
Waite - 1 Goal from Free Kick (The ump couldn't even see, nothing in it)
Browne - 1 Goal from Free Kick

and

Fisher - 1 Goal that Hit the Post

Happy?

Agree 100%

Anyone know if Adam Bentick's head has been excavated from the half back flank turf yet?

7 pts down at the time. May have been rather critical, that particular decision.

No doubt a couple of critical errors were made at the selection table, especially when playing the Saints with a tall forward line. O'Hailpin should have played, giving us more flexibility with our talls.
Waite could have played a more freelance role across half back and been the third man up.....plus could have been used forward more as well.

The Walker one is debatable.....not sure how true the undisclipined thing was that was reported, but for mine was happy for him to have another week at the Bullants. In saying that you would have thought his experience and run would have been more value than what we got from Anderson, who is still learning........using the bench with Walker rotating back and forward could have worked.

The Edwards one , you wear, because we are still looking for that third forward.

Apart from the glaring error of not playing Setanta, most blokes deserved their spots on the back of good enough form from a win a fortnight ago against the Tigers.
