On one of the Topic on the main board I made this comment about the player all Crows fans love to hate Laurence Angwin :

Mummy's boy needs a dummy so he deosn't cry when he gets on the field. A d*ckhead that cost us a pick 7 in the draft and caused us so much headache with his off field behaviour and then when going get a bit tough he runs crying to mummy. Has genuine talent but in my mind will always be the most hated player by majority of Crows suppurters. A genuine d*ckhead that boy is.

To which koulagirl22 replied:

What about injuries caused by making him train in the heat in the middle of summer? Surely you are to blame as well, thou negligent Cows. I certainly understand him not feeling able to stay with the club...

Ah good old koulagirl22, always good for a laugh!!!!!!:D :D :D :D :D :D

Poor Lawrence. Undoubtedly he was the only one of approximately 640 AFL listed players training in the heat in the middle of summer, while the other 639 had their feet up in air conditioned comfort.

And she's probably right. The heat may well have caused injuries such as drunken driving and taking things which aren't yours.

But then again, on the other hand she does think that Koula is a good player.

Read my post above. There were 2 parts to the second "injury".

*grins* Thanks for all the attention Stiffy...

I can't be bothered going into the liability of your ever-so-esteemed club with regards to not only the heat-induced injury which was not only perfectly avoidable, but other clubs took action to avoid players doing similar training at that part of the day in those conditions. So yes, probably most of the other players in the AFL were doing something in at least partially air-conditioned comfort, i.e. training inside, working with weights or in the pool etc..

I'm led to believe that the incident regarding drink-driving was a separate incident somewhat later in the season, after Laurence had recovered from passing out in his first training session and damaged his shoulder in another training incident. Why you insist on linking the two I have no idea as they are most definitely not causally connected. I do believe that Laurence was not the only player to be in a similar situation during his time at the club?*blinks* Why then is it so vital to your denunciation of Laurence that he made one mistake? For which he received a fine, for Judassake!!

Personally I wish Laurence well. No matter what he does or where he goes, I don't think I'll forget too easily that, after all, he has talent and under the right conditions he'll be able to develop it.

Oh, and regarding this whole thing about me thinking Koula is a good player? That's because he is... have you seen him play lately?

Yeah you keep sticking up for him - I'm sure he appreciates that someone other than his direct family doesn't think he's an idiot, moron, liability, softc.o.ck, whinger, loser and an all round waste of carbon.

See? He needs people like me or he'll end up like that. When nobody believes in you it's hard to believe in yourself. And don't think I don't know that, because I damn well do and I know what the poor guy was probably going through.

Ah yes, because as we all know the scenes from Port's membership drive ad in which you see the lads, all shirts off and sweaty running up a hill, were actually filmed in Siberia at -40C.

*rolls her eyes* draftees are usually on a midfied program and if laurence played at port he wouldn't have been required to do the same amount, if any, of the work at largs.

Well, lets hope that Port recruit some fine, upstanding and loyal talent like Laurence in the near future.

Not to mention we gave up Kane Cornes in selecting that bloody soft p*#*k in what was our earliest draft pick ever,

So I gather then that you think that the heat caused the loss of moisture from his fingers which in turn made them much lighter than is acceptable??

What a load of crap!!!!!! Laurence was on modified program. I seem to recall you younger players doing the running on the beach earlier this year when the temperature was a scorching 40 degrees. Were they on a modified program?!?!?!?!?!?! With all due respect, your choice of favourite player tells me that you know very little about football!!!!!!

Whilst I back up your comments that people are being a bit hard on Angwin overall your comments taht the Crows have been negligent and did somehting that other clubs wouldn't is utter rot.

The Crows are a professional club with training programs individually suited to individual players

Next you will be telling me Port are responsible for Nathan Eagleton passing out in the port game.

i actually remember at the start of this year down at alberton on a 40 degrees day, all of the power players (including draftees) trained for 2 hours... no-one passed out then..
port weren't doing anything wrong there, just as the crows werent doing anything wrong when angwin passed out.

That was my point exactly. Koulagirl22 just has a big chip on her shoulder. If I remember correctly Mark Bickley also collapsed after his first training run with the Crows but he didn't chicken out as Angwin did!!!!!!;)

Bit harsh. In other years id agree, but Koula has done well this year and has been named in Wests best players 7 out of 10 games or something like that. He's done everything possible to put his name forward as someone that shouldnt be delisted at the end of the year and to seriously put his name forward for selection in the best team in the AFL. You cant really fault that can you? He'll definately play an AFL game in the 2nd half of the year for us.

Ill just add that my favourite Port players of all time our Lockwood and Poulton. Because they were/are only average players does that mean i know little about football too?

Probably is a bit harsh Macca19 but if he wasn't under contract last year he would not be on your list now. I still have a big query on his disposal under pressure. He has improve but he would have to improve a hell of a lot more to be as good as koulagirl22 says he is. He is a decent player but not much more. Hell I think you will agree with me that he was not worht number 12 selection.;)
