Now that reminds me of another Derby day story for you Blocker, and I swear every word is true ... it even had a Wet Toast supporting 'mate' laughing at his fellow supporters.

Sitting down behind the goald we had the atypical 50-something know-it-all Eagles supporters (not suprisingkly the saem ones that thought Daniel Kerr was Dean Cox, and cheered 'Coxey' on all day ...)

Eagles Stereotope #1: That Dan Parker is doing alright in defense for them.

Eagles Stereotype #2: Nah you idiot, thats his brother Shane!

Eagles Stereotpe #2: His brother Dan is a younger brother - and from what I have see4n of him, he can play a bit ... <at this point I started to laugh at loud> ... god knows why they dont play the guy!

Eagles Stereotype #1: Well thats Freo isn't it, they don't play their good players - maybe we can pick him up IF they delist him?

<at this point, I was laughing so hard beer nearly came out my nose>

Eagles Stereotype #2: Well that's it, they'll cut him eventually, we can pick him up and turn him into a champion - I mean look at Trent Carroll!

I looked at Trent, shook my head and laughed, a small ray of sunshine on an otherwise very cloudy day

Well, HMFWAI, what can I say in response except that I am eternally grateful to you for sharing this, and indeed it did deserve a post of its own.

Of course I should say that if I was drinking a beer whilst reading your post (hypothetically speaking of course) it too would have been destined for a sojourn up and out of my nose.

I have this mental imagery of the two elderly muppets in the theatre box sitting behind you at those matches. Possibly this imagery is very close to the truth.

In all honesty, I can't really knock Dan Parker too much, he has played AFL, I haven't, but he was found wanting at the top level. I could list his weaknesses, but probably easier to go with strengths- tall. His brother, on the other hand, has been exceptional.

To the knowledgable, forgive my ignorance, but where Dan is playing nowadays? Can we get Eagles scouts to those games?
