Yep, Shep and Wellingham need a second year at the same level. My boy Cripps would have made it based on the first half of the season but I think he needs another preseason to be able to keep up the manic work rate for 22+ games.
 
Good results. Five in is about right. Been hard to watch from the UK but from what I've seen the Gov has faded a bit with injuries taking over. Prob won't make the team but a great reward for a very good season, particularly the first half.

Shep probably unlucky but it's hard to justify six guys in the squad, and it usually takes a year for guys who have been in the system for a while to get due recognition. I'd dare say if Gov was a 70-game player and had a season like that he'd have just slipped out of the squad in the final rounds (mainly due to battling injury)...

NicNat should get a bunch spot. Surprised Sandi wasn't in the squad. I thought Goldy a lock for starting ruck and a battle between Sandi and NicNat for the bench. NN should have that one now.

JK a lock with a clear and decisive win in the Coleman as well as being the standout key forward of the competition.

Priddis and Gaff will go close but they are in very very competitive spots so unless you're Fyfe, Ablett (in his prime), Pendles (not in 2015, but 2010-2012), Kennedy (2012) then you're never really a walk up start to get a midfield spot.

Out of all those players Gaff is the best "pure wingman". It will be a farce if he doesn't at least make the bench.

I think the two wing positions should belong to Gaff and Smith (from the Hawks), but of course this will never happen because the selectors will always fill the spots with inside players they can't fit in anywhere else.

If your the best at your position I don't think you should loose out to to a player who may be better in other areas, but not the position that needs filling.

Remember Luke Power in the forward pocket over Phil Matera in 2004 when Matera kicked over 60 goals and Power kicked 15?
And Fletcher and Kirk were on the bench

Whats the quality like on the inside 50s? And Nic nat averages 0.3 more clearances over their careers. Nic Nat's best CL year is 90 Sandi's best is 109. 0.4 more inside 50s a game as well.


Sandi is not 0.blah blah better at important aspects of the game associated with ruckman. There are massive differentials. Sandi is better than NicNat. Sandi's best years are coming up for Nic Nat to. Next year is the equivalent of Sandi's most dominant years. You could include this year. Chances are if Nic Nat isnt better than Sandis best next year hes never gonna be better than Sandi.


Its Just like Fyfe is already better than Kerr. Pavlich is better than any fwd eags have every had. Fyfe will only be behind Judd at the end of his career in terms of best player to ever play in the west. Hill will be better than Matera soon to.

A few here are saying Gaff is a lock. I reckon he's flown under the radar a bit and might not get a look in. Reckon Kennedy and Priddis are 2 locks and the other 3 are all maybes.
