Either that or he wasn't having much of a crack. Would be hard to get up for games like this right in the middle of the season with nothing much to gain.

I think he was just shut down by 2 players today who did well going the other way, mind you it did take 2 players to stop him having an influence on the game so that bodes well for you guys.

Yet he did still manage to have some of an influence on the game despite Freo putting so much work into stopping him.

Correct, which as i said is good for you, because even with that he was able to play some part in the game.

So this injured thing is just bs, he had an average game and now all of a sudden he is injured? righto..... :thumbsu:

Average?

Slightly less than normal influence maybe.

Also noted that he hardly kicked the ball. 5 kicks to 24 handballs.

Is he carrying a groin injury still?

I think his close friends may have stopped him getting enough space to kick the ball.

You can only hope he will be injured for the St Kilda game.

Jnr was well man-handled in the game. We get so used to his brilliant returns that a game like this reminds us he IS human!!! OMG. Still liked a couple of his runs when the game was there to be won in the last quarter. The Geelong midfielders did not seem to time Sandilands tap outs and therefore seemed to have lower centre breaks, but I haven't seen the stats for breaks so could be wrong.

16 contested possessions out of (about) 30 says it all.

Perfect example of how misleading stats can be. Most of the contested possessions today where one because he was under a lot of pressure and a lot of those were not particularly efficient.

They put the clamps on today and I think he had a pretty average team. Was a scrappy game all day though, strange umpiring and a lot of mistakes were made by players:

  • Stevie J dropping marks, falling and playing on into danger.
  • Chapmans kicking was atrocious, after missing one goal he looked down and said something to his boot as if it wasnt attached to him.
  • Ablett playing on from 25 meters out.
  • Mooney trying to kick the cover off the ball.

i have noticed this.

his kicking against WCE look abit restricted (even if he did get 15 kicks, 28 handballs, but no really long hard kicks) but nothing compared to this week.

he also looked like he lacked a bit of chase in some contests. for example when scarlett when to ground around the half back line, he just seemed like he just didnt go hard enough at the contest when there were 3 freo blokes around the ball... which resulted in a freo goal.

Is there something wrong with his hand? A few times this year i see him running around holding his hand like he has a sore wrist or something

*Disclaimer: I know I'm on the Geelong board and I come purely in the name of comedy*.

Maybe he was carrying a brick in his handbag?

I did notice Freo blocking him at every opportunity.
I noticed that too. And I reckon it's been going on in other matches as well this year. He gets blocked at the stoppages by the tagger & when he gets his hands on the ball in packs about 2-3 players pounce fiercly on him everytime. I feel he's not getting any protection from the umps whatsoever, and this blocking around stoppages is worse than holding onto a players jumper imho. I'm also not sure if his teammates are protecting him like they have in the past.

The reason he is handballing so much is because he isn't given space to move from the opposition, as soon as he grabs the ball he is attacked by players from every angle.

I think the attention he's getting at the moment from opponents was inevitable because we were using him too often. The amount of stats he was racking up early in the year was over the top I thought and was making our clearance work too predictable.

With opponents looking to body Gaz out of the contest we should take advantage of the looser checking on others (Jimmy, Selwood, Chapman etc) and use them. Geelong is not by any stretch of the imagination a one-man midfield.

I wonder if the ankle injury he got earlier on in the year is still niggling him? I imagine since he gets pounded from pillar to post every game that he would be pretty sore post match, and any injuries would probably flare up to some extent.

Still, he was good in the last I thought, had a bit more of an influence. If only he had kicked that goal, it was a bloody good mark!

Why has this idiot been allowed to troll our board for the last 30 hours?
