Either would be amazing. I think Ablett is the more dangerous up forward though. Selwood may get dodgy free kicks, (Pendles has followed suit to a lesser extent) but he's a gun on baller.

I don't understand why anyone would choose ANY player over who is - without any argument - the best player in the league. Of course you'll take Ablett over anyone (anyone outside the Pies current list, that is).

Right now i'd take Jeremy Cameron Chad Wingard and Jaegar O'Meara over Ablett, will be better for the club in the long term, we are currently rebuilding and need 20 year old stars not 30 year old ones, despite how brilliant ablett is, i'd rather 10+ years of brilliance from an O'Meara than 2-3 years from ablett

It's a question of what type of player do we need right now? We probably need the hardness, leadership and presence of Selwood right now. He could feed the dangerous players like Swan and Pendles.

Ablett is amazing, but he and Swan are probably a bit similar. Selwood gives us something different. He's also a clutch player in the big moments.

How is this even debatable? Ablett is close to (if not the best) the best player of all time.

Easy, ABLETTTTT!!!!!!

Perhaps the greatest player of all time and he will play on for as long as he wants. He may play till he's 40 lol.

Depends if you want the game's most damaging outside player, or one of the most damaging inside players.

I think with our list at the moment you would take Selwood, he is everything we lack in terms of belief and leadership, and he would free up swan and pendles massively.

Might have something to do with Selwood sheer impact on games regularly through brute force willing the ball his teams way, Ablett is brilliant but they are 2 completely different players.

Ablett is the cream, Selwood is a beast.

with Ball nearing the end and where our list sits I'd take Selwood.

Even Gary knows he is not the equal of his dad and he is 29 and he probably has 3 to 4 yrs left at his current standard, his dad who was much more athletic than Gary ever has been lasted until 33yrs and then he hit the wall big time and it was over pretty quick.

I agree with Blaze I would also take O,Meara and Cameron before him have not seen enough of Wingard to agree on him but the other 2 for sure.

The way I see it is anything Sellwood can do, Ablett can do better.
Gaz played inside mid the last two years at the GC and this year he was able to play more outside because of the development of the rest of their midfield.

I know that Sellwood is an absolute gun in his own right, but Ablett is seriously just something else. He is a freak!
