Hey rocket, don't take it bad, take a sad game and make it better, remember to let her into your heart, then you can start to make it better.

Hey dude, don't be afraid, you were made to go out and get her, the minute you let her under your skin, then you begin to make it better.

And anytime you feel the pain, hey dude, refrain, don't carry the world upon your shoulders, for well you know that it's a fool who plays it cool, by making his world a little colder.

I can't stand people who tell other to be quite when all they are doing are barracking for their team. I think its ok if the individual is swearing or continually abusing a single player, but besides that, they can yell or they want

That's the type of idiot you don't want at the footy. I cant understand some people.

I go to the Brissy games at the gabba and I don't hear or see that type of behaviour. There are three guys that keeping on singing "Brisbane" and whilst its annoying Its part of attending the game. To me the worst thing are the kids that have those bangers and they just keep on banging away even if you are next to them. I just feel like busting their bangers and making them sit down but that wouldn't be right would it. The oldies and the young kids shouldn't be allowed to go to the footy because you cant rip into them. :) :)

Similar stuff goes on everywhere, some places worse than others..

I'm surprised I haven't been told to shut up at matches.

...But if I ever have to sit next to that stupid rampant bitch whose ****ing awful scream penetrated through all cheering and noise every time Port got a goal at the Showdown (get in the AFL website and watch the replay), I will be escorted from the ground ..probably to jail, because I will shove a blow-up clapper stick down her god-horrendous throat.

SHUT THE **** UP YOU ****ING HORRIBLE SCREECHING BANSHEE BITCH!! So glad Port didn't kick many goals against us!:)

I think anyone swearing, F'ing and blinding when there are young kids around is feral gutter trash.

However the OP makes it clear that's not him, and he's just shouting cheering getting involved with the game. That's what you want more of not less.
Agreed.
One suggestion would be to leave out any heckling of umps. Then the complainers truly have nothing.

I've sat in some pretty quiet area's where no one seems to even talk to each other. Weird! I tend to sit near a lot of neutrals who don't give a rat's and therefore don't make any noise.

I dropped an f bomb one game in the heat of the moment and had 3 old biddies turn around and laugh. That was unexpected.

The be "quiet" comment came when I was giving Razor grief for his 3/4 time stuff up, apart from that the umpires didn't get much from me on Friday, they were surprisingly good.

But I think the umpires are fair game, once again no swearing but it is part of going to the footy to complain about the umpiring.

I was right into the booing of Gunston in that first quarter, that must have put her on the edge!!

Having slept on it, I was trying to think of some witty responses if she does it again but I think I will just ignore her completely.

As I was worried about (and someone else mentioned) if a mid forty year old, 110kg bloke is arguing with a little old lady in her late 60's early 70's it doesn't take much imagination to know whose side the security guard is going to take.

If I don't swear and don't say anything to her I should be right, doesn't matter how loud I am.

We need to be more tolerant of the Grannies club. They are a vital cog in the 19th man subculture.
Youthful exuberance and umpire taunting is detracting from their usual granny club conversations..........

I've dropped a stitch! Damn These arthritic fingers:mad:
My coffee is cold and my haemorrhoids are playing up again!
I attended another lovely funeral this week. The tea cake and scones were lovely.
Back in my day footy was quieter and much more refined.
The war was too loud!
Young Rory needs to get a haircut! Who does he think he is with his flowing locks? My dead husband would roll over in his grave!
Where is Bernie? He must be injured! I am knitting him a nice Crows beanie! He is such a lovely young man.
The younger generation are ill mannered and should be seen and not heard! They should bring back conscription!!!

And this little pearler........

Tony Abbott can put his shoes under my bed..........anytime!;)

Uuuuuuuurrrrrggggghhhhhhhh!!! Shudder!!!!!o_O:drunk:

How can your pearls of wisdom compete with this?

Did any security come over? Shame that no one in that whole bay thought to report him.

Nope. There were a few people telling him to keep quiet and be respectful but he was right in the middle of the bay so was hard to get security over. Could not for the life of me find the number to report him.

Generally though I've found the adelaide oval crowd pleasant with plenty of friendly banter, but there's always one person that ruins it for everybody

your not swearing, it doesn't sound like you saying anything offensive..
So don't change!!!!

Crowds everywhere are getting really soft. It's not just at Crows games. There seems to be a lower tolerance now for robust barracking.

It is a reflection of where society is heading?

I mean, the wailing and gnashing of teeth over BT's comment on the weekend.....Am I still on this planet?

Some Crows guy was kicked out in the early part of the game. He was sitting in the lower section of the Eastern Stand and had 4 rent a cops escort him out.

Didn't see what happened but he looked shattered.

yeah that was in my bay (138) I think and I stress think he sits in the front row with his beer perched on the fence and of course it got knocked over or he bumped it himself and onto the field of play close to the Hawthorn trainer and on ground security guard. I'm row E so I couldnt quite see or hear what was going on but there was some gesturing with the fence and knocking a drink over if you get what I mean

Disappointing if true and sounds like a lack of communication between all involved. However, next time I don't think he will chuck (place) his beer on the fence.

yeah exactly and security were being hyper sensitive considering the Port v Ess incident just the week before.

But the rent a cops are always 'act first, remove the person and ask questions latter'

I think I know that scream f4e! I sit in the north side and it just gets worse and insanely repetitive the more drinks she has! Totally feral this one.:)

Why do we continue to perpetuate the stereotypes supplied to us by the mob down the road? The demographic at our games is no different to that of any other club. Well, that's my take on things having been to Showdowns and quite a few interstate games.
Maybe I'm a tad sensitive because I'm in my early 70s, but fair dinkum there's a load of ageist crap on this site.
For the record I run five times a week, swim 50 laps of my local pool twice weekly, still work part-time in a profession I love and as far as I can tell still have marbles intact. I relate okay to people of all generations. Oh, and I'm loud as a supporter at the footy and have yet to be told to shut up. In fact I've become something of a cheerleader in my bay at AO.
I could go on about the 'Young People of Today' as has every generation from Plato on and probably before him as well, but I have enough common sense to understand that people of a generation are not a job lot.

I agree with the age stereotype, there are supporters who are young that are just like these oldies people complain about..

I think there are just far more complaints about "oldies" at our games because we do have a high percentage of older members..

Come over to a Crows game in Melbourne and see what crap is dished out to us!

I have been long suffering over here since 1991 including trips to Vic Park (spat on) and Moorabbin (spat on) and the infamous after the siren 2009 semi loss to Collingwood - my last ever Pies match I have attended (spat on after the siren with my crying daughter in tow in the MCC Reserve). We regularly get told to F-Off home (even though I have live in inner city Melbourne for over 25 years) and our parental heritage questioned and our lack of footy knowledge continually raised (don't you know that all VFL club supporters are always right ?).

Still, it is a bit disappointing from what I would fathom should be "friendly" supporters at AO.

Doesn't stop me yelling though - stuff 'em I say. My money is as good as theirs and my seat is no different than theirs!

Thanks a million. I'd managed to expunge from memory trips to Vic Park and Moorabbin. I'm now reliving the trauma!
