List Mgmt. Academy Bidding Discussion Thread - 10am Today

With Rok and LRT going and 3 delistees, that leaves 5 spots on the senior list, 3 are gone from today. Likely we will rookie two kids. Im thinking best we can hope for is elevate two rookies and combine the two picks for Mal and Membrey into one and take a second round pick selection on the night.

Is that about right?

We have already re-contracted X.Richards and Lloyd for next year as rookie list promotions. Add in the 3 today we have a full senior list.

One positive in taking all three Academy players is that at least we've had a very good look at them. Club must be very happy with Hiscox and Davis to take them both.

All dependent on if our trade staff decide to pull a fast one that no one sees coming. And with their history may happen.

I feel like Swans went into the bidding process with the frame of mind that we take these 3 kids no matter what. By doing this they are showing the AFL the academy system is certainly worthwhile persisting with given we have now taken 3 NSW kids straight out of the academy.

We should have tried to screw GWS and bid on Finlayson, he got through without anyone bidding.

Reality is all 3 are good selections, Heeney is a jet should play round 1 next year. Davis helps our KPD, HIlsox is the weird one but I had him in the 30-50 range so at 38 it isn't too bad

Depending on the salary cap implications it is possible for us to go to 40, so if Mal does leave there may be
scope for us to increase our list size this year.
I'm sure in the Buddy calculations there would have been allowance for some senior players to drop off our list,so the scenario of going with 39 or 40 senior list players (up from our existing 38) may be unlikely, but adding a number of academy players and upgrading rookies may give us some salary cap flexibility.

Got to love that he can kick on both sides of his body and his efficiency is very very good , much needed in our midfield.

Can take a grab like Parker , from what I have seen is much quicker.


Like he said , hope he can crack the senior team next year.
