Buzza was terrific, if he wasnt clunking marks he was tapping it intelligently to the advantage of the small forwards. Have never particularly rated him but I must say he is really impressing me. Looks a lot fitter too.

Isaac Corvo was brilliant I thought, such a big unit and took some really nice intercept marks. Wagner was brilliant and proved once again that he can do some really special things, that hanger he took in the square was awesome. Keays probably didnt have the impact he would have liked but still got his hands on the footy, I'll be interested to see his stats. Reuben William was terrific in the first half, really reads the play well and makes some good decisions. However at this stage I am unsure of what position is - he's a real utility type.
Good for the u18's to finally get a win on the board. They played well in patches but (2) things concerns for me:

1) (Straight from the Chargers Trainer) They had 14 of their best out, primarily their whole backline replaced. If we didn't beat them on Saturday, we would never have beaten them.
2) The 3rd quarter we added 1 point to our tally while Oakleigh scored 3 goals 4 points which could have easily been 5 goals 2 points. The stats will tell the mathematical story however we had just as many inside entries into the forward line in the 3rd than we did in any other time but none of our forwards looked like slotting one through the big sticks. In other words, we let them back into the game when we should have really finished them off.
Summary: Watching the 3rd quarter was frustrating and also concerning when you take into consideration that the sides they play in the Carnival will not be so forgiving. If we have another brain fade later this month NSW will squeeze the life out of us there & then. Someone from the forward group needs to stand up when called upon.

.

Which is a flog of a statement. 14 players covers more than a near complete backline. So its a complete midfield and forwards as well? Considering the depth of talent in Vic, (compared to QLD) those 14 players would have been playing their asses off to try and impress and make the carnival.

That they were totally outclassed by the QLDers, all over the park, perhaps the coach got more than a few things wrong? and the presser..

How many players are on a TAC Cup list?

I wouldn't have thought it would be as many as 36,but could easily be wrong.

OK, sounds very open-ended though....

They can't possibly have 60 guys training together, the supplementary players presumably play for their local clubs.
Yes, spot on Judge. Last weekend they had the u18's carnival and private school competitions which drained their squad. Oakleigh guys rates his defence players as one of the strongest in the TAC CUP however this week almost of them had prior commitments that had priority over them playing on Saturday with the Chargers.

Just into round 7 of the NEAFL Comp and already 3 Academy boys in the rising star nominee's!!!

Gotta be a good sign.

If Rolls works out to be a good player, he is a headline writers dream.

There are at least two totally separate streams of useful pun there.

Yeah, private schools here have first dibs on their players although they will release them for championship games.
Frankly the Chargers might be overrating themselves a bit there. This year's squad is not their strongest based on what I have seen and their results to date. And most TAC Cup teams have the same issue of losing players to other competitions to a greater or lesser extent - it should even out in the end.

8. Could a team deliberately trade out their high picks for players and then match with multiple later round picks? Yes. We'll use this example: let's say the Giants get to the end of the season and they know they have access to Hopper, a tough, competitive midfielder. They want to boost their stocks in defence, so trade their first and second picks to Essendon in exchange for Jake Carlisle. That means GWS's first pick comes in the third round, with which they could start to match an early bid for Hopper. Of course, given the bid for the midfielder is likely to come in the first handful of selections, the Giants would owe plenty of points and be in debt into the 2016 draft. But they can choose to do it this way. Clubs can do whatever they want prior to draft day, but the matching process will stay the same: the AFL will start at its first pick, then move on to its next, and then the next and on it goes.

Hmmm.....very interesting!!! :)

So what happens when a club trades out their 1st and 2nd round pick this year, accrue points and then the club trades out their 1st and 2nd round pick next year too and the club also had an academy kid who is rated in the 1st round next year too? How many points can a club keep in the bank? All this points shit is very unnecessarily convoluted.
